Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Everybody settle down about Lion!

So far Lion has been out for 4 days, sure there are going to be bugs its the first version of a new operating system!, of course everything isnt going to be perfect. Apple is already seeding (or about to seed) 10.7.2 for developers and this should fix some bugs and problems.

People need to settle down about simple little bugs, i have two macs that i upgraded a couple of days ago and so far havent had any bugs whatsoever, and even if i come across some i certinetly wont retreat back to Snow Leopard.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

Probably you're not having that's why you're happy. I really regret buying and installing Lion. Even after three days when Installed and reinstalled and clean installed few times, I'm not getting my system work the way it was working before with SL working absolutely fine. In future I'm not even going to upgrade on day one but will wait for few months to see if the new OS is stable and working fine.

There are more than a few users with 'isolated issues'. I'm genuinely pleased that Lion is working for you but some of the problems/features/bugs are causing people genuine issues.

It seems to me that Lion was not properly tested if Macs won't sleep, are running slowly, display personal info in Safari to all and sundry and no longer run games with the power of the hardware that was purchased specifically to run well.

When MS lauch Vista I changed for Mac. Amazing ! Mac OS faster, smarter, intuitive. Just loved. Lion came and I become a apple seller. Talk with my friends to forget windows. Iphone incredible good to. Time capsule easy configuration. Just turn on and use.

What happened with Lion ? How could they launch with all these problems ? How many different computers mac have ? 30 ? No more than these. They should have tested before.

The image of easy use. Just open and use is very damaged.

Lion is more like Vista for me.

A systen where lots of good features like "spaces" and apps that I have download from mac store last month are not working anymore !! These is windows like.

Why to change scrolling inverted ? What these make better ?

Give us back the 3 fhingers gesture to change safari pages. Resize was better last version to.

Very dissapointed.

I liked only new mail and versions feature. The rest is crappy for me.

Sorry mac. You failed. Lets see if the first 7.2 fix everything.

I have a sugestion. Take us back to SL with versions and new mail. The rest trow away....

I have to say, as a 20-plus year Mac user I am very disappointed in this OS release. It was nothing but trouble since the git go and I still haven't even gotten my desktop iMac back to the status quo ante. I regret that your post did little to elevate the discussion or otherwise help those of us that did not have a smooth upgrade experience.

Most of the complaints seem to be coming from people who are first time System upgraders or Switchers.

I have been doing this since OS 9.

Everytime I upgrade or switch to a higher OS there are bugs and glitches here and there. I understand some of you expect something to work at 100% staright out the box because that's what we are lead to believe from our society. Be patient. Fixes will come in time, from my experience it normally takes about a month.

We all have different machines and configurations/Apps for this OS to deal with, just be thankful you are not PC.

My advice is to keep an eye on the forums and watch out for updates.

All will be well in the Apple garden again, I promise! 😎

I'm happy(ish),

Plus points :-

Merge Folders alone justifies my cost - its thekiller feature I wanted.

Gestures - after a few days playing I really thinkthey are good and help me a lot (well done apple)

Bad Points :-

Merge folders does not work same as in windows whichis a shame - but since finding out how it does work (shame on apple for noinstructions) it'll have to do - it works and a really really needed it.

TimeMachine broke for me using my WD MybookWorldNAS - my only savior was I have an Airport Extreme so I bought a 250GB usbharddrive and set it up as my backup device - works PERFECT! - so I’m happy

VCN Screen Sharing no longer works with3rd party products on my iPad & iPhone - this is a MAJOR problem for me - Iwould have included the TimeMachine upset in this - but I have found a work around- sadly I cant find one for screen sharing - until new clients are coded I'mscrewed (cheers Apple)

On The Whole for my 20 quid, its not bad its the cheapest OSupgrade I have ever bought - brings some really cool and exciting features and enhancements- sadly let down by some major flaws. If I had a real TimeMachine andcould go back would I do it again - YOU BET !!! these things will be fixedeither by Apple or 3rd party vendors I'll just have to wait.

????

The OP is being a bit dim here. The point is people are having problems and so of course they will complain, who are you to decide how important their problems are and who are any of you to decide the severity of other people's problems !!!

Was adequate user testing done to a wide enough demographic ? No software will ever be bug free but "show stopping" bugs should've been wiped out with major testing.

I've upgraded to Lion and so far the only problem I have is with Safari randomly rendering a tab unusable for no apparent reason. But far be it for me to tell others with problems to calm down !!

It would seem to be that the original poster of this topic was encouraging patience and civility. Sure, with any new release, there are expected bugs. However, I remember my days with a PC. Any OS update from Microsoft was a sure enough "shot in the dark." I dared not upgrade until version .02 was released. Therefore, the upgrade to Lion has been rather smooth comparatively.

For the vast majority of those of us who have upgrade to Lion, the transition has been relatively painless. However, there are those who have experienced geniune grief and frustration over some issue (both major and minor). For those who have those issues, just kindly and plainly state the issue. I have found that the users of the Support Forum are very helpful. A couple of the issues that I had, proved to be on my side of the equation and not on Apple's. If it is a genuine Apple issue, the give them the benefit of the doubt. No one would accuse Apple of deliberatly releasing a faulty OS. After all, such a decision would be detrimental to the company profits. Apple desires to please the customer. Therefore, if there is a legitimate issue, Apple will resolve it.

Many of the issues that I have seen raised are not bonafide. The expectation to have ancient software (i.e., older than three years) run on a newly release OS is neither reasonable or right. That woud be equivalent to me expecting my old WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS to run under Windows 7. As hardware improves, software must also. The question to be asked before you upgrade to any system is, "Can I afford the ancillary cost that will be needed to make this system work?" If the answer is "no," then stay with the system that is working for you.

Well, this is just one man's opnion. Take that opinion and $3 to your local Starbucks, and you can get a cup of coffee. 🙂

I don't think 10.7.2 to developers has anything to do with fixes to 10.7....

"You must install OS X Lion 10.7.2 in order to use iCloud for OS X Lion beta 5," Apple reportedly told developers. "This pre-release version of OS X Lion is being provided solely for testing iCloud."

As such, people familiar with the release say OS X Lion 10.7.2 does not appear to address any of the outstanding issues or glitches that have surfaced with Wednesday's market release of OS X Lion 10.7. Instead, it's believed that Apple will initiate a separate beta test for Mac OS X 10.7.1 in the coming days or weeks.

The release doesn't work on an iMac 3.06GHz. The display driver is WAY messed up. That's not a simple bug, it causes a kernel panic (system crash) it is a MAJOR bug. Enough to render the release completely unusable. On the other hand, don't think I'm missing anything except the for the cool new Mail app.

So just because you have not been able to install Lion succesfully we should all get riled up?

Didn't realise how important you are, sorry.😁

Everybody settle down about Lion!
