Everybody settle down about Lion!

So far Lion has been out for 4 days, sure there are going to be bugs its the first version of a new operating system!, of course everything isnt going to be perfect. Apple is already seeding (or about to seed) 10.7.2 for developers and this should fix some bugs and problems.

People need to settle down about simple little bugs, i have two macs that i upgraded a couple of days ago and so far havent had any bugs whatsoever, and even if i come across some i certinetly wont retreat back to Snow Leopard.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)

I think you meant to put Lion on an external drive which would be so you could switch to Lion if you decided to do so. But since he has Lion already he can make 1 Partition so that the Recovery app doesn't stand in the way

I would still install on an external to test, you may omit this if you like but I prefer to know what doesn't work prior to commiting to the internal drive.

That would be an enormous job for me,I have so many PPC apps and I would have to remove them and their preferences as well as their App support folders. I have a plethora of PPC apps. BTW I like the way Lion looks. Did you know that Redmond is copying Lion? Their Windows 8 looks a lot like Lion. The "start" menu is now rectangular and contains apps in a rectangular look. It looks like Launch Pad. They are trying to make the OS look like their IOS. Sound familiar?

Thats weird as in this household we have 5 mac of various kinds and the three that were updated to LION had one problem or another. You must be very lucky or you simply have not come across a situation where the freezes happen. Are your Macs used for a specific task?

Some are some aren't but the difference is the prep, I knew in advance every PPC program I used, I was aware of 3rd party programs that may need updates (so I removed them prior to cloning Lion to the internal), all my machines were up to date and running normally prior to upgrading and I tested the upgrade on an external drive before I committed to the internal, takes longer but I have now upgraded 13 machine to Lion and 4 are waiting at Snow Leopard while I wait for updates to ProTools to be available.

Specific task machines are for show control and /or music production machines, the latter are not yet upgraded owing to issues with some of the non-Apple software i use.

Lucky you, installed Lion on a Macbook Pro, with the problems:

Ical startsup un expected

WIFI shuts down approx every 1 hour, only reboot solves problem.

I say keep talk going solve problem let apple know of issues and lets all learn.

So far I have never seen so many up dates to software, not just apple but everyone that has a program running on Lion OS do so.

This means two things: One Lion is successful in sales and Two its a major upgrade. I have found that I need to search all programs for up dates. I need to update extentions keep on top of all my softwarre. I am kind of longing for the days when I could turn on and off extention in the OS looking for conflicts but the 90's are gone.

I like lion but will admit I'm not used to the freezes!

I tried resetting TC before like this to no avail but until reading your post had not tried it using Lion 10.7.1. Until now if I put power to the TC it knocked out the WiFi and Lion would not configure it. However, I pressed the hard reset button not once but three times. Third time was lucky. On the first press Lion saw the TC, I noticed it did not knock out the WiFi or affect the network as it did before (even after a hard re-set) but it would not configure. I tried again, no luck. I then made sure TC was completely erased, shut down the iMac and rebooted. After presing the reset button on the TC again Lion was happy and configured it. I am now running a backup again and the network seems to be operating.

My other network problem - going to sleep and reawakening immediately seems to have abated. That was not related to the TC. Not sure what has happened for Lion to now be happy as I have done nothing and even after installing 10.7.1 yesterday the problem was there. It seems now it has gone. Perhaps the heading to this forum telling us to settle down is in fact what has happened to Lion on my machine!

Now to see why iCal does not sync, a separate issue debated in another forum.

Everybody settle down about Lion!
