I am not sure that's possible, but would have been during the install process. There is rumor of a thumbdrive to be out soon from the apple store that will have it... perhaps it would be best to wait if all is going well now. cheers!
The install process immediately deletes the download installer upon completion.
So, if you didn't duplicate it first, it is gone.
Just re-download it from the App Store, then you can move it to DVD if you like.
Open the App Store, then Option Click the "Purchased" Tab, then you will have an "Install" button to re-download it.
When the download completes, burn the image to DVD. And after that Delete the image to free up the 4GB.

i have tryed this one already and it says it is installed and will not allow me to the option of install to re download it. which worried me as i have never used the App store before .

do you want to make a second copy of the OS X 10.7 Lion?
didn't you got your LEGAL copy when you installed the Lion?
why would you need a second or a third copy on a DVD of the OS?
if you need another copy why not buy another copy from Apple.
you know it is ILEGAL and agaist the law to make copies of OS systems without paying for?
lots of people already have on eBay Lion copies on DVD for sale. those copies are coming directly from china where there is the biggest ring of the counterfeit and software thieves on the planet. get yourself a second LEGAL copy by paying at the store.
After you launch the App Store,
You need to "Option Click" on the Purchased tab.
That means, hold down the ⌥ key and then click the tab that says "Purchased" then the "Installed" button on the Lion line will change to "Install"
Click "Install" to re-download Lion
Note:
However, you probably don't need this as Lion has created a recovery system on your machine that will re-install Lion when necessary to re-build your machine at some future date.

i think you have miss read this as i am speaking to Apple support. you are alowed to make a back up of a purchase. and as there is a problem with the instal thats why its wanted
and as i only have one machine that is all it is.
Thank you very much Alan for your kind help that is working fine now
Brian
You're welcome.

Now now, let's not go Chinese bashing. There's the Indians, Thais, Russians, Bulgarians.... everybody but the Nepalese...but only 'cause we only get a few hours of electricity per day I suspect.
be nice if there was the time when nobody bashed anybody
its still downloading but i expect the severs working overtime.
Alan is correct about this, as I found to my annoyance as I had to install on 3 Macs (allowed under the licence agreement). After I downloaded for the second time, I saved a copy then installed. After a restart I noted that there was something in the Trash: the Installer so I copied this again (academic reasons) and it was fine. So that may save someone the need to re-download (unless the Trash has been emptied of course).

Hi Alan,
I have similar issue, I got a new IMac with Lion, i want to have the disc as backup ,but while I option click on purchase I cannot see Lion available. Could you help letting me know what I should do? Many thanks.
I got a fd share me a disc. No issue now thanks~
I am very new to the Mac world so please forgive my ignorance on this. Anyone with insight or help would be much appreciated.
I recently purchased my Mac and it came with backup disks (ie Snow Leopard) I then went and successfully upgraded/ installed the new OS Lion through the App Store.
My question is: If I have already backed up my entire system with the new Lion on it through Time Machine to an external drive, do I still need to make a backup copy of Lion to reinstall down the road? I am just confused on what I will need to do if something happens to my system down the road. From what I have read people are saying you need a disk to reinstall an OS, but wouldn't I just connected my external drive to reinstall?
Thank you for any clarificaiton.
