Hi again Linc and thanks for all your time and effort.

There were a few other weird things happening as well as this blank Security pane and although I am no techie, I have been using a Mac for 20 years plus and it was clear that something not quite right was going on. So I bit the bullet and decided to do a complete reinstall of the system. Now I am back up and running I just checked and found your suggestion!

Everything is working as it should at the moment and hopefully I won't recreate the problem as I reinstall various programs etc but it looks as if you have at least one other customer!

Once again, thanks for helping.

Hi again Linc,

I have gone through the steps you listed, but terminal didn't do much.

after I input the line beginning with kextstat, nothing happened at all, so I input (copied and pasted) the next line. then I got the warning, typed my password, and proceeded. After putting the "launchctl" line on one line and pressing return, I got this:

com.adobe.ARM.202f4087f2bbde52e3ac2df389f53a4f123223c9cc56a8fd83a6f7ae

com.adobe.AAM.Scheduler-1.0

I put in the final command after that, beginning with "ls -1" and got this:

ls: /Library/InputManagers: No such file or directory

/Library/StartupItems:

Not sure what I should do ... ! help!
