Missing emails in Mail - Lion deleting them?

I'm using Mail with two IMAP accounts (oneis gmail), and I'm experiencing a little weirdness.

I seem to be missing emails coming in, which I'm not deleting or filing away.

I got in late last night and checked my emails on my iPhone. I read one that needed to be replied to today, then closed Mail on my iPhone and went to bed.

This morning, I jumped on my Lion iMac and opened Mail - and the email I read on my iPhone doesn't appear in my inbox. I checked on my iPhone and iPad and it's not there either.

I didn't delete it or move it or do anything other than read it on my iPhone.

I asked on another forum, and one person said the following:

I am experiencing the same thing. I seem to be able to send email from the Lion's new Mail, but can't receive any.

I have several mail accounts in Mail and the problem seem to be the same with all of them regardless of whether on exchange server or not. The strange thing is that I can see and read some of the "invisible" incoming mail in my iPhone, but if I try to refresh my Mail accounts on mac, it may delete the new emails also from my iPhone! The disappearing emails are nowhere to be found and I have also checked the external exchange service mail boxes and junk mail and spam boxes.

Quite serious bug causing a lot of harm!

So it doesn't seem to be just me.

Anyone else?

Cheers.

I'm having the exact same problem that you describe. In some cases incoming mail appears in the inbox for a few seconds, but then dissappears and I'm unable to find it anywhere.

I'm also noticing that the Yahoo mail user whose emails are getting deleted has been emailing me at my old me.com address, when the address that I use is a mac.com address. Normally the me.com address works, but I'd like to get ride of every vestige of mobile me that has ever existed on any of my computers! I don't know why Apple is hanging on to the me.com address, I can't seem to delete it.

Yahoo accounts can now default to being set up as IMAP. If one or more devices or computers happen to set the same account up as POP, then things can happen to remove the message from the Yahoo servers, and then in an account setup as IMAP they will be lost.

Carefully confimr all devices are consistently using the account as either IMAP or POP, but not mixed.

same issue here, on multiple computers and OS versions:

brand-new Imac with Lion and another imac with snow leopard both recently noticed emails missing. Emails were received on both computers, read, not deleted, and returned later to not find certain important emails on either.

lot of similiar responses on this topic, and I have a LOT of reading to do to see if anyone's solutions may apply to myself. Pretty sure I will simply migrate my entire office away from Mac Mail entirely unless I can resolve this issue asap. We have to reference emails from months, even years, back to keep work flowing through our shop and if we're noticing emails missing now.... who's to say we haven't lost even more emails (and business) along the way?!?

also noted, I'm also experiencing difficulty with my own mail... to which I have setup on my iphone, mac-mini, mac pro, and macbook pro. Until recently, i believed that everything has been fine and I could access my inbox from either platform.... but now I'm noticing that each platform is receiving a few emails from the whole, daily. I don't know if this contributes to the issues in this thread, but up until a few months ago... everything was working perfectly (i think, but now I'm so baffled that I will have to do a LOT of digging to confirm the extent of my issues.)

I have been having problems as well. I have 7 email accounts all with the same ISP. Two are not having any issues and they are both POP accounts. The others are all IMAP and the messages in my inbox are disappearing after about a week or two. I do not see any preference settings on having them automatically delete.

My Sent box- they are all there as well as my trash box - they are all there.

So it is just the important email that I am saving in my Inbox that has disappeared and they are all IMAP. Any solutions yet??

Have any of you found a solution. This just happend this week to me. I read to up grade to OS X Mountain Lion, I'm downloading now but what about all the lost emails I have to get to for work?? I wish I would have left them on the server, but its my 600 sent emails I really need access to. I guess going forward I'll save those on the server too. I REALLY need to find a way to get them back!

HELP!
