Yesterday I installed Windows 7 using Bootcamp Assistant on a MacBook Pro mid 2009. During installation, Bootcamp downloaded the drivers and burned them to a CD--successfully I might add. Only I didn't really know what the drivers were for and proceeded with the installation. Now after the fact, I understand what the drivers are for. For one thing the trackpad doesn't work right. When I put the CD in, it looked like it was going to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch, so I didn't bother with it.

It turns out that this computer is woefully short on hard drive space and so I've decided to upgrade the hard drive. I'll clone the Mac side (Lion) and copy to the new hard drive and then go ahead and reinstall Windows 7 using Bootcamp Assistant. My question is at what stage do I use the CD I burned with the drivers during my reinstallation? This process was anything but clear. Any help would be great.

This is ridiculous. If I can't download the drivers I can't install Windows. There are no 64 bit Windows 7 drivers on the disks that came with my 2006 MBP. The 32 bit XP drivers that I have are going to be of no use either. Apple needs to fix their download server. There are posts about this problem going back months. It is obviously a reoccuring problem. It is a relatively small download, if they can serve HD videos they bloody well should be able to handle a 600 Mb driver package.

I have this problem also, but i solved it yesterday. There is a bootcamp.dmg on your mac, open it, and you will see a lot of drivers. Copy all of the folders to your windows partition and install the required drivers. Now i have a fully working win7 on a mid 2011 mac mini. I hope this helps. The boot camp 4.0 cannot download the required drivers from the apple servers, but you can find those on your mac os x.

I think it's obvious what's going on, Apple don't want Mac Users to use BootCamp anymore. It's a simple download file on the server. Easy fix, so with all this users talking about the same problems and probably sent Apple messages warning about it and no response, it's the same with iMovie bad quality, or Aperture Update not available anymore for Snow Leopard. This is what apple became, I am reinstalling BootCamp, because the support for my MacBook 32 bits is better on Windows than on Apple, I can't have Archicad on Mac Since version 14, Windows support on my hardware until version 16, there's several apps that now are only Lion compatible making Snow Leopard users empty hands, but at the same time they support the same hardware on Windows. I understand the need to move apps and harware forward but I CAN NOT understande Microsoft Windows giving my MacBook better support than Apple!!!
