My Mac don't go sleeping since Lion Update

2011 15" MBP, running 10.7.3, nothing in print cue and still wont sleep. If I force it to sleep, it stays asleep. But, it will not sleep with the lid open without active intervention from me. Any thoughts?

(Edit: From above regarding "Mine was something was stuck in the print queue.")

Exact same thing for me. Seems like something Apple should fix...if you're closing your laptop and something failed to print, who's going to expect the OS to keep trying after the lid has been closed?

Yup, print q for me resolved an annoying problem...wasn't the sharing etc, just the printing side. hopefully apple will resolve asap. 🙂

Many thanks to everybody who has contributed to this thread. My MB Pro 2010 (Lion 10.7.3) had this problem and thanks to reading all the replies, I worked out that the cause was an unprinted document waiting in Word for Mac '11. Once I'd connected the printer and let the print take place my MB went back to normal sleep-with-lid-closed mode.

Checking the printers for unfinished print jobs worked like a charm. I had something that I had accidently "printed" twice and as soon as I deleted it, BAM, it's working like a champ.

Thanks for that - this was my problem - a printer that's not connected had a print jog in the queue.

My HP printer has 1 job on hold with an ! mark - how can I get rid of it? The delete, hold and job info buttons are greyed out so i can't touch them. Might be causing my MBP not to sleep with the power on.

Me too. Two documents stuck in a print queue waiting for a non-responsive printer at work.

Right-click on the document, then cancel job.

My MBP 2010 OSX 10.7.3 also wasn't sleeping.

and of course cups is printer related on mac. checked my printers and found few documents stuck on Adobe PDF and my cannon iP100. obviously been there for ages. Deleted them which rendered both printers idle and my MBP can sleep again.... sweat dreams 🙂

Thanks to the Genius who figured out about the stuck print job, my mac now sleeps properly. If only I could too lol.

I still have not gotten my 2011 macbook pro to go to sleep by itself. Tried everything except the reinstall.

I have no printers set up, and I have all my sharing settings off

So perhaps you don't have problems to sleep your computer.
