It always works with Snow Leo with no Problems.

I checked the Console, everything looks fine. Also did a PRAM Reset.

Many thanks to everybody who has contributed to this thread. My MB Pro 2010 (Lion 10.7.3) had this problem and thanks to reading all the replies, I worked out that the cause was an unprinted document waiting in Word for Mac '11. Once I'd connected the printer and let the print take place my MB went back to normal sleep-with-lid-closed mode.

Thanks for that - this was my problem - a printer that's not connected had a print jog in the queue.

I was having the same problem on my mac mini 2010 not going to sleep which was caused by a print item stuck in the print queue, I deleted the item and now is all well. Just to your Print & Scan in system preferences, select your printer(s), and then click the "Open Print Queue" button to show the print jobs and delete any that have not completed.

My MBP 2010 OSX 10.7.3 also wasn't sleeping.

Trying command in terminal

$ pmset -g assertions

Gave me

Listed by owning process:

pid 2026: [0x0000012c000007ea] PreventSystemSleep named: "org.cups.cupsd"

and of course cups is printer related on mac. checked my printers and found few documents stuck on Adobe PDF and my cannon iP100. obviously been there for ages. Deleted them which rendered both printers idle and my MBP can sleep again.... sweat dreams 🙂

Thanks for everyone who contributed to this.

I still have not gotten my 2011 macbook pro to go to sleep by itself. Tried everything except the reinstall.

assertions gives

Assertion status system-wide:

ChargeInhibit 0

PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep 0

PreventUserIdleSystemSleep 0

NoRealPowerSources_debug 0

CPUBoundAssertion 0

EnableIdleSleep 1

PreventSystemSleep 0

DisableInflow 0

DisableLowPowerBatteryWarnings 0

ExternalMedia 0

So I have no idea why it will not go to sleep

I was having the same problem on my mac mini 2010 not going to sleep which was caused by a print item stuck in the print queue, I deleted the item and now is all well. This solved it for me. Thank you!!
