Launchpad app icons keep moving

Every time I turn my MacBook Pro on, I see that all my launchpad apps have rearranged themselves from their previously organised state! Is anyone else having this problem and is there a way to get them to just stay still?

13, Mac OS X (10.7)

The only fix I found is quite simple, let say you have your 8 last apps on the 1st lauchpad screen that moves. Drag them all to the second screen. Then, replace them one by one on the 1st screen according to your choice. When you've done that, restart your Mac and see if they move. They shouldn't move anymore.

Let me know 😉

THANKS! Your tip worked! Although for me, I didn't have to drop the icons onto a different screen. I started out by hover-dragging them to the next screen (NO NEED TO DROP EM THERE) and then hover back to the original place where you want it to be and drop it. I did this for just a couple icons and it all sorted itself out across the rest of the icons -- so I really only had to deal with something like the first four icons and everything ~magically~ sorted itself out.

Although we shouldn't be relying on magic for this stuff to work the way it should!!

I had the same problem and as most of you, I find it annoying, so I tried a PC solution: I put all my apps on a Launchpad second page, emptying the first page. I, then reboot two times (just to make sure) and moved the icons on the first page again. Now it's been OK for about three weeks. You don't get a Mac to do those kind of things and I hope they'll solve this issue, altough it's a minor one, I like my computer neat and clean.

Definitely still happening in 10.7.4. Launchpad behaves so nuts that it's not worth the bother. I really liked it when my apps were where I expected, but in the end I've just stopped using it. Trying a bunch of time-consuming voodoo tricks that may or may not work for a given person is hassle I'd rather skip. Apple can fix this; I probably can't.

Think of it like Dashboard: once in a blue moon you might use it. The rest of the time, just pretend it doesn't exist.

I'll revisit it in Mountain Lion and see if it's reliable.
