Can I install Snow Leopard on the new Mac Mini

I would like to upgrade from my Mac Mini 2009 (2.26 Ghz with Snow Leopard) to the new Mac Mini just released which will come with Lion. However, I would prefer to run Snow Leopard. Are there any ways to install Snow Leopard on the new machine?

Awesome That worked great.

So, if anybody wants to know, you CAN install snow leopard without another mac, and its quite easy.

Create a universal installer uisng the information here:

I did that. it was pretty simple, considering this is my first mac. I've been a PC guy, ut use macs everyday at work, but only on a user level.

I now have a modified 10.6.7

after that I ran the combo update on Apples site.

then after getting the NFG installer, my Geekbench went from aroudn 3500 back up to around 9600 where ti belongs.

I installed a new hard drive in the 2.7 GHz dual-core 2011 mini so I thought this a good time to re-install the NFG-customized SL.

I installed 10.6.3 (I think it was) from DVD, then the 10.6.8 combo updater (via Software Update), then the NFG installer package.

I have not yet migrated any files from the old boot drive -- waiting till everything works right.

I'm not clear on one point I read here: should I apply the 10.6.8 update a 2nd time? If so, at which step in the install process?

My best Geekbench (64-bit) score is 7672.

I'm having a display issue: maximum video resolution (in Sys Prefs) is 1600x900 -- in Lion higher resolutions are available. (This was not resolved in the previous NFG-SL install on the old boot drive, either.)

Thanks,

iX

I have an mac mini server late 2009 with running 10.6.8 Mac OSX Server.
Now i bought an new mac mini late 2012 with intel hd4000 and usb3. I read this thread here and hope this will also work with the new mac mini. Could it be a problem with the new hardware and the performance of the usb3?
Where can I get the drivers for the new hardware? Can I find them in the the library of Mountain Lion?

I've re-installed OSX 10.6.8 on a mid-2011 mini for the 3rd time in 18 months. I have not yet installed NFG's package, this time.

When I "Quick Look" (highlight in Finder & press the Space Bar) a file I get these results:

Print files (photos, pdfs, etc.) display fine.

Audio & video file either display an icon (usually the video files) and nothing else, or look like they are playing (icon shows & progress bar moves) but no audio.

If I open these audio or video files in a player (ie, iTunes or VLC player) they play as expected.

I've been chasing this problem ever since I installed Snow Leopard on this 2011 mini 18 months ago.

This time I've not installed any add-ons (menu bar enhancements, etc.) to see if it might be one of these causing the trouble. But the problem seems to be Snow Leopard and the 2011 mini.

On another partition on this mini I installed Mountain Lion (10.8). The Quick Look issue I've been having does not happen in 10.8.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with this combination?

Thanks,

iX
