Safari 5.1 won't play video on YouTube

Thanks for your suggestion. mine works now. But on my iMac it was on "Privacy" not "Security" where I found "Remove All Website Data"

Hello, I am having the same problem. I updated to safari 5.1, also updated Flash and videos on youtube wont work. I uninstalled the old version of Flash as well and installed the new one and nothing. Also emptied the Safari Cache, and still nothing. Then I right clicked on the Black video screen to find that HTML5 option, but it doesnt even show it. Any ideas on what I could do?

I just recently started having the same problem. It turned out to be a new version of Divx player.

Safari - Preferences - Extensions - Unchecked 'Enable DivX Plus Web Player HT.. - restarted Safari - works again.

Opting out of the HTML 5 is a quick, easy fix. Works right off the bat.

I have been having this trouble for a few months now and have done most everything mentioned in this thread. I cant seem to find DivX Plus Web Player HT under the Extentions. Any ideas?

It seems that Finder-> Find should find DivX and Web Player HT whereever they are.

I keep the find simple and find everything that has DivX in the title or what have you.

Find-> Web Player might find it, and you can use something like MacKeeper or AppZapper (free) to remove all of the related files and trash them, then restart and reinstall if necessary.

I am not sure how to search in Finder, but I used Spotlight to search and I dont have either DivX or Web Player HT on my computer.

What does happen is a program (im not sure what to call it) QTKit Server -(455) Safari Web Content (481) Goes on when I click a Youtube video and grabs 100%+ of my CPU. I think I am missing a plug in that is supposed to be playing the videos.

I reinstalled the latest version of Safari last night and emptied the Cache and there is a minor improvement early in the video with sound/video sync, but it still takes a long time to start a video.

Safari wasn't playing YouTubes, blank space on Safari window (all other browsers working fine).

Problem was an extension called Google Disconnect.

Once I turned it off everything was fine again.

That worked on mine for a little bit, but I had to turn off all extentions to really get it to work like the old days. I guess Google doesnt like the idea of AdBlock or keeping the ever evil Facebook and Twitter from not following you 24/7.

The problem seems to have gone away and is finally fixed.
