save as missing in lion

For those of us who make modifications to a document on a regular basis, but need to retain the previous versions, or who need to keep the same revised document in several places, the removal of "Save As" is a disaster. In order to save as, you must, apparently, first export the document as a WORD or PDF, then after doing that, close the pages document, (Then a save as comes up,) allowing one save as and automatically closing the document. I have a series of files that i must keep in several locations, and they all change weekly, but I must be able to reference past copies as well. It aqppears that the only way to do this is to buy WORD and forget about Pages. Surely this must be a mistake by a committee who does not do word processing, or am I alone in this type of use?

I WORK, Pages-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7)

Cstreater - Well said, I couldn't agree more and am equally dismayed by the one or two people that continue attempt to tell the rest of us (well over 6,000 views as of this writing) that it's in the end user agreement so it's all our fault. Can Apple EVER be found at fault? Are they not capable of an error in judgment? I've been dealing with massive issues with both Compressor and Final Cut Pro that all seem to result from the latest update, hailed as dramatic performance improvements that turned out to be anything but. Of course it's all my fault though because it is written in the EULA!

Ranters, how many divisions ?

6000 views but millions of new mac users since Lion delivery.

Find the error !

When Apple was alerted that there was a real bug in Security update 2012-01-Snow, they delivered a corrected app 48 hours later.

When they were alerted that several users got an unusable system after running the delta 10.7.3 updater, they removed this one in less than 72 hours.

Lion and some apps without Save As… are delivered since august 2011 and several users rant against them but Apple made the difference and changed nothing. 😁

The number of wrong installs with the combo is really smaller than the other one.

So they removed what was really annoying.

Most of us had no problem with 10.7.3 combo.

There are bugs in every application with many lines of code.

Delivering a version is deciding that the number of users encountering a bug is below a certain percentage.

10.7.3 was tested by a lot of testers and none of them got the CUICUI problem.

So the update was matching the standards.

A problem surfaced when the update was widely distributed.

Apple removed the delta version which was failing on 'many' machines.

The percentage of problems with the combo version is small enough to let it available.

Is it serious to install an update on a machine treating important datas the delivery day ?

I'm sure that it's not. Serious users wait at least one or two weeks to see if there is some oddity which was not seen during the test period.

Yeah rivetting isn't it?

They never ever fixed the problems they created with saving converted .eps, .ps and .ai files from Preview for example.

How many versions of OSX is that now? Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard and finally Lion. Each version of the OS puts a new and interesting twist on obstructing the user.

They have almost, but not quite, fixed the vexing problem of the tiny minority of users still attempting to work quickly, to an accurate, efficient and professional result.

Guess that will come with the next major OS 'upgrade'.

Which problem.

When I import a .ps file with Preview, I get a PDF which I may save flawlessly.

When I import an .eps file with Preview, I get a PDF which I may save flawlessly.

When I import an .ai file with Preview, I get a PDF which I may save flawlessly.

It's what is written in the help.

User uploaded file

When I export as openEXR I get a washed picture but as I have no native app to treat this format I don't know if it's normal or wrong.
