Deleting a number of hidden files with the same name

Hi,

I have until recently been using Personal Backup X3 to sync my files between my G5 and an external drive. However this has been creating a hidden file called .PBSyncDB in all the directories I'm backing up - and as such is appearing in certain applications and being a general nuiscence.

I have tried searching for all files with this name in the finder - even with hidden files being shown, but its no go. My only other hope is the terminal - but I have not a clue here. Can somebody please post the command to delete all files named .PBSyncDB?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi Paul,

You have gotten great advices and tips here!
About your locked files, try also if the usual utilities will work in your case. This would be so simple and straightforward. For example,
TinkerToolSystem has a "Lock/Unlock" feature for all files within a folder,
Cocktail has a "Delete locked or inaccessible item" feature, and a "Lock/Unlock Item" that allows flexibility with writing access to folders or files.

Okay, success at last!

I actually went the software route (was perhaps the more obvious choice anyway??), and after a long search to find an app that could perform the task, I found File Buddy 8, that let me find all invisible files, select those named .PBSyncDB, and then Trash them. All is right with the world once more!

Thanks to everybody who tried to help out, it is massively appreciated. You are all a credit to the Macintosh community!

Kindest Regards,

Paul
