Mission Control Dual Monitors moving windows between desktops

So far I like the new Mission Control however I am having what I beleive to be an issue.

I have a dual monitor setup and multiple Desktops configured. If I want to move a window from Primary Monitor Desktop 1 to Primary Monitor Desktop 2 it works but if I want to move a window from Primary Monitor Desktop 1 to Secondary Monitor Desktop 2 it will not let me. I have to do the move in two steps. First I have to move it to Primary Monitor Desktop 2 and then from there I can move it to Secondary Monitor Desktop 2 ?

Please can someone verify this ? Is this a limitation or a bug ?

I am seeing the same thing. I believe it should be considered a bug. Though I fear the official response from Apple will be "that's how it should work." Generally, Lion does a very poor job with dual monitor support. Examples are this one, as well as wake from sleep, and also the full screen mode feature where the 2nd monitor is rendered useless after putting an app into full screen mode. Either Apple didn't think this through, or they didn't have enough testers using dual monitors.

I am hoping an update fixes these problems.

Ithink Apple has too many beta testers that just accept everything that Apple gives them...sort of lemmings that dont want to complain and really are not power users,,,mission control is a massive step backwards for dual monitor or more users...in fact its a step backward for most professional mac users..

Its more for iphone and ipad users that apple wnat to sell a 27 inch imac to !!!! is all about making more money now i would have thought 67 billion in the bank would have let apple make a better operating system not a worse one like lion....Im going back to leopard and wont be installing lion on my macpro or my imac !!!!

Yeah I find this incredibly annoying. I use dual monitors at work. In Snow Leopard with Spaces it treated the dual desktops and a single entity. Now they are treated as a separate entity. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem if you could actually drag an application window to any desktop in any monitor, but its quite annoying having to separate this into two steps. I guess it wouldn't even be that bad if Adobe CS5 apps actually worked properly for any of their virtual desktops... albeit Spaces or Mission Control. Because now, even if you assign Photoshop to desktop 5, it doesn't always open in Desktop 5. It only works properly if you have another file window already open. Its quite annoying. I really wish Abode and Apple would put their qualms aside and get their heads together on this, because the people that need multiple desktops are ones who happen to have Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign all open at the same time, assigned to different desktops, and are constantly taking files between all of these apps. Anyone have any third party virtual desktops apps they like?

No spaces was the perfect app...still using it I will stick with leopard on my desktop machine until its sorted out..apple could have made it even better by offering separate docks and document /desktop folder but alas all they want is money from selling imac to iphone/ipad users now...pro users that have looked after them for so many years dont get a say or consideration any longer !!!!

I have the exact same problem. CS5 Apps misbehaving makes Spaces (and likewise Mission Control) totally useless. I found minimizing windows when I wasn't using them, and then setting Expose "All Windows" ok my middle mouse button or a screen corner worked well, because minimized windows would be lined up neatly along the bottom. But now in Lion that's gone too.

Does anybody else find it annoying that when you switch from one space to another on one monitor, the other monitor switches also? I would prefer that each monitor operate seperately in this regard — or ideally, and I know this will never happen — have each space start out independent, but be able to "link" certain spaces by, say, option-clicking (like linking layers in Photoshop). It's a fairly professional feature but only pros need two monitors anyways.

Yes, seeing the same thing. I do like mission control. I would prefer that the desktop span two monitors.

I think the use of two monitors means quite often we plan to have more than one app open at a time. Mission Controll with the 3 finger swipes and full screen apps, is all about maximizing use on one monitor. At times I think it would be easier to go back to one monitor to maximize the use of Mission Control.

Hehe, Linux+Compiz rulezzz. You can tweak it the way YOU need and not Apple think you should do 'cause they "just knows better what market needs" 😉

My ideal setup on Linux workstation was: 2 Graphics Cards, 4 Monitors, 2 of them fixed, so I could put there applications and windows which should be permanently seen, for example -- Zenoss monitoring dashboard (screen 1) and stocks tickers (screen 2)

Screen 3 and 4 respectively were part of the Compiz Cube with Xinerama activated, e.g. one extra wide desktop across 2 monitors, seen as semi-transparent Cube during transitions between 4 virtual destops, so I could almost immediately see where all my windows are.

And now, Apple, could you tell me, If I've got Mac Pro with 2 Graphics Cards and 4 Monitors, is such a setup feasible with Mission Control?... OK, ok, you don't have such an eycandy as Transparent Compiz Cube, I could survive without, but having simultaneously 2 monitors as part of virtual desktop and 2 others fixed is absolut 'a must have', so, now's your turn... HOW?
