After Installing OS X Lion iMac freezes while watching flash videos!

I just recently purchased a 21.5 inch iMac and since I updated to OS X Lion it seems that for the most part when I begin to watch a flash based video, such as youtube or other websites the iMac completely freezes, the only movement is from the mouse. I can't even force quit. This only began when Lion was installed. Is it the machine or Lion, I don't want to take my iMac to an apple store for them to tell me it's the software. Anybody else having this issue?

I have exactly the same problem. Newest iMac, Lion, Safari & Chrome. But: Not only do some (not all!) Youtube Videos freeze. I've also experienced this problem when opening a standard MOV-File with quicklook. Strange thing here was that the video window itself displayed some sort of graphic-noise before the mac froze so possibly this might have to do with the videocard and/or the drivers for the videocard.

Anyways, but that's what makes me think that it is not the flash-plugin that causes the problems...

Over all that's the only problem I have with lion and it's SO annoying :-(

Well, lucky you I'd say then 😉!

I've posted also a survey on my website (in German); results show that apparently most people seem to have a stable system not experiencing these problems, but also quite a few HAVE the problem.

If anybody wants to participate the survey, translated "keinerlei Probleme" means "no problems", "Mac friert ein (nicht iMac 2011)" means "Mac freezes, non iMac 2011" and "iMac 2011 friert ein" means "IMac 2011 freezes".

I'm having same problem, no point in describing it since you all have it as well.

But I would like to note, I called the mighty Apple "support" and I might as well have been talking to my 86 year old grandfather. After telling him all the specifics about the problem (freezing on videos, youtube, flash, etc.) he said I need to replace the batteries in my track pad. WHAT!? Are you kidding me! I told you that my mouse still moves while its frozen. Not to mention if my track pad was dying from batteries, why would the video freeze, and I lose all Key board functionality and my dock icons wouldn't magnify while hovering over them, which I already had made clear to him.

Needless to say, he wasn't "aware" of this problem.

So I guess in the meantime I'm stuck sitting here looking at my $2500 investment that won't play videos!!!

I bought a brand new 27 Inch I-MAC on Saturday July 30th. I upgraded to Lion. And ocassionally my Flash Videos Freeze, The mouse continues to work, but the system becomes inoperational. Same issue everyone else is experiencing. I have contacted Apple, they tell me its a known issue having to do with Flash and to wait for an update. I am not a Happy Camper, but expect Apple to follow through on fixing this.

I didn't with one word say it was a "scientific" survey. Calm down. But they at least show that most participants of the survey have problems with the latest iMac and that also most participants state to have problems whereas least say they have no problems. At least this survey is more qualified than you saying that YOU have no problems on your macs. 😉

After all is said and done, I just decided to upgrade to Snow Leopard, As an apple user I am EXTREMELY dissapointed. I mean if you're going to release an OS then make sure that the programs that you already make are compatible....Yeah, Im looking at you xcode. And the honeymoon phase of this OS was NON EXISTANT! I've had trouble with it since installation, between the aformentioned flash freezing and just the lack of planning and compatibility, I just kinda snapped.
