Spell Check in Mail

Since upgrading to Lion after spell checking an email prior to sending, the spell check box stays on screen after the email has gone.

In SL this box disappeared as the mail was sent.

Is there a setting to get this to act like it did on SL?

Thanks,

John

Your problem, hardware or software, may not be exactly the same as that of the original poster of this older thread, and it can be very confusing for everybody if we try to answer more than one question in each thread, which can also result in you applying the wrong advice to your particular problem.

In order for us to give your problem our proper attention to try to solve it, would you kindly start your own thread, describing the trouble you are having in the fullest detail, including completing your details to show what Mac or iDevice you are using, what operating system, and what version of the application in question. Please remember to post in the forum relevant to your hardware or version of OS X. A full list of all the support forums is here:

i also have the same problem.... i don't like it to spell check as i type and would prefer to do my spell checking when i have finished the letter and am ready to send it... the main problem with check spell when i hit send button is that after the spell check is done with the last word the email is sent.. and sometimes i would like to add to the email and be able to choose when i want to send it.. not have it go out automatically when it is finished checking the spelling... any ideas on how to make this happen? to have a window pop up automatically at the end of writing a email and be able to spell check and then manually decide when to send the email... does this make any sense?

here is a "work around" that i found... go to mail preferences... then choose "composing" then under "spell check" then chose "never" then after writing your email hit the "command" button the "shift" button and the "semi colon" button... and it will spell check for you and allow you to choose when to send it...

mail preferences/composing/spell check/never

to start a spell check hit the command/shift/semi colon

or you can "right click" and use the pull down menu to start a spell check...

please let me know if it works for you and is a help?
