Samsung phone support for isync

Does anyone have any ideas on when Apple will support Samsung phones with isync? Considering there ipod nano uses samsung hardware I would have thought this would be a given.

I got address book to sync with my phone using bluetooth. The problem was with how the phone expects the address book entries and how I have them in address book. I had to sync the entries one at a time, telling onSync how I wanted to handle the details on some of the 'problematic' entries.

The most common problem I had were with entries with a work phone number and a work email address. onSync does not distinguish between phone numbers and email addresses, it seems.

iMac 20inch Intel early-2006 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I was successful with syncing my i500 with my iMac BUT only on 10.2.8 and it required a work around (below if it is useful to you).

But I can not get my MacBook Pro on 10.4.6 iSync to work. Missing Sync does not appear to offer a solution. Has anyone
1. Gotten the i500 to work with isync for 10.4.6. OR
2. Use another PDA phone successfully with the MacBook Pro using 10.4.6?

Work Around i500 using OS 10.2.8

Trick is to use Palm 4.2.1 AND then re-install two iSync downloads in this order:
Palm 4.2.1 then
iSync 1.5 then
iSync Palm Conduit

After all installations were complete, went into Hotsync Manager's Conduit settings and 'enabled' iSync. Finally, I plugged in the i500 cradle, restart the computer and, magic, it all worked. NO need for Missing Sync at all.

yes, i'd be interested to see if another person could get onsync to work for their t509. i'm really hesitant to purchase it, considering it doesn't sync with isync. currently i have a sony ericsson t610, which has been WONderFUL for the past 3 years, but i really need a new phone! but isync has spoiled me 🙂 and i don't like flip/clam phones, i'm different and prefer the bars. so any suggestions besides the new t509?

Okay, here's my elaborate, albeit functional, solution for syncing my t509 with my powerbook:

1. On my powerbook, I already had Virtual PC installed with Windows 2k (eck).
2. I purchased a windows program called Mobile Master ( http://www.mobile-master.com).
3. Using the bluetooth setup assistant, I paired the phone with the computer.
4. I signed up for an account with plaxo ( http://www.plaxo.com).
5. I downloaded and installed the Plaxo software for OS X and for Outlook Express (this was installed within virtual pc, of course).
6. I synced my OS X address book w/ plaxo.
7. I synced plaxo w/ my outlook express address book.
8. I mapped the bluetooth serial connection with my t509 to COM1 using the Virtual PC settings menu.
9. Getting the t509 and Mobile Master to talk to one another took some finagling. MM wouldn't find it automatically. I had to manually tell it that there was a phone connected to COM1.
10. After more tweaking within Mobile Master, I was finally able to get my contacts all downloaded to the phone via bluetooth.

I know this is a lot of steps, but it's much better than trying to manually punch in 300 contacts and their respective phone numbers.

I have the Samsung T509, and found 2 work-arounds to import my contacts from Address Book into it using Tiger:

1. This is tedious (although not as bad as the Virtual PC solution), but you can send vCards to the phone for each address book entry, 1 at a time, via bluetooth. You first have to pair the phone with your Mac, then use the 'send vCard' (or something like that) menu option in the Address Book Application. When I tried to select all of the address book entries and send them in one go, only the first entry was sent.

2. This was the easiest way that I found, but it requires having another (GSM ?) phone that WILL sync via iSync. Simply sync your phone, then use the built in feature of your phone to copy all of the address book entries from your phone to your SIM card. Put your SIM card into your T509 and copy all the address book entries from the SIM back into your phone. This approach was sort of a cheat, but it resulted in having all my contacts in my T509 fairly easily, which is all I really needed. I was however limited to 109 entries due to the size of my SIM card...

I do not own the samsung t509, I would like to if I could bluetooth sync with my mac book. Samsung has sync software for download on their website, has anyone tried to use virtual PC to run this program?
