Does anyone use Launchpad?

I have used Lion for a few months now (Yes months, I am a developer) and I was wondering if anyone acutally uses Launchpad. I thought it would be cool at first, but it is kind of a pain in my opinion. I use a launcher to open applications fast (Alfred). The gesture is too complicated to open Launchpad, and it is hard to preform on the MacBook Pro trackpad. Does anyone have different thoughts? Anyone use it? Let me know.

I use it and i like it more than the app folder in the dock,in launchpad i can see my apps better they no small icons and all together like in the app folder, they bigger or they look bigger with the space more space between them and in the first page the system ones so you don't need see all at once and scroll they just there and swiping can access others and look at them without distraction, you can access it with one click like the app folder and you have a better view of them ..For my also the gesture is easier than move the cursor and click so what can be better than that?

I like the first page because is the apple ones so you don't need look for them in case you have some more apps..Just look for what you looking and when find it launch it with a single click...

I am using it, by the way. A quick 'pinch' and then tap on the App I want. It's like an extended dock. I had an Apps folder, Utilties folder and MultiMedia folder with aliases in them on the Dock - tap the folder, then tap the App. Pinch and Tap or Tap and Tap or Swipe and Tap (iPhone). I'm getting used to Pinch and Tap because I don't have to mouse to the Dock first.

My eyes glazed over trying to figure out how Launchpad would make tech support easier.

LaunchPad isn't going to make tech support easier.

It's the eventual closing of our Mac OS X so it's closed like iOS where the user can't do anything to their machine except buy from the MacAppStore is what is going to make tech support easier.

Not that's an interesting Tin Hat theory! So at some point we won't be able to post here because we have jailbroken our macs? Will we have to go to Cydia to get anything useful? Will my $3000 machines only then excel at playing Angry Birds with each other? omg, where's the bridge.... 🙂

Actually I read in another thread that someone reinstalled Snow Leopard because Angry Birds wouldn't run 😝

The first problem with launchpad is that it contains too much stuff one doesn't care about or want to see, such as patches for other apps or support apps for other apps. An example is that I see all the patches for World of Warcraft, tons of them. It takes a good amount of time just to clean it up so it can even remotly be used.

I think launchpad might be good for novice users or new users to Mac OS. Advanced or expert users that only care about launching the app or utility as quickly as possible they will just use the dock for most frequently used apps or Spotlight.

Still evaluating it, but, I think it will be useful as you can at least have more regularly used apps on one page without cluttering the dock. Still use the dock for all the important stuff that I use ALL the time and keep a folder in the doc aliasing my iDisc which is easier and quicker than opening the app then opening the document.

Still time will tell. But it may just be another way to access apps that I will only use occasionally, that said it's good to have options.
