Does anyone use Launchpad?

As for the original post, I use Quicksilver and it's all I've ever needed since OS X 10.1.

I'd bet 90% still have it with most of them not knowing what it is. But will it make you fell better if most people don't use it? I found if you take the time to organize it then it serves my purpose and as ig says ordered the way I want them. And I like them taking up the full page with large icons.

Applications folder works great for me if I want an icon view of my apps. I usually just do a command-space and start typing the app to launch them quickly. There are also several other options for launching apps out there that make much more sense for quick launching.

Launch pad confused me a bit when I first installed Lion. "Okayyyyy, I have an applications folder on my dock, why do I need this.... and what are these apps in there" Just seems a bit redundant and meant for some other device other than my imac.

Most other "features" of lion I really like. I just wish I understood the real purpose/vision of the launch pad.

That's what I think.

Apart from that I think Launchpad is not such a bad idea, just the implementation leaves a lot to desire.

I never use it. I prefer typing app's name on SpotLight and pressing enter. It's faster, easier. LaunchPad is not necessary in my opinion.

You realise that you are responding to a thread that is 2 years old.

IMO, getting into Spotlight, typing names into it, is certainly not faster than a quick 3-finger pinch and one click.

Why would the response date matter? It's still the second result on Google. lol.

I challenge you to do it faster than me. I also used LaunchPad for a while but let's imagine your app is in a folder and it's also in third segment, then it's not that efficient. Of course it's still better than digging into App folder but this is different.

"cmd + space" and at most three letters, that's it.

If this is the 2nd result on Google, then it shows you how little this has been discussed!

Fair enough, we'll agree to disagree on Launchpad vs Spotlight.

I still don't understand why you made it a big deal to answer this topic after two years. I'm curious and I was reorganizing my icons on Dock, then I wanted to see what people think about this. It's not a huge discussion, that I'll agree with.

I happened to be modifying some shortcuts and noticed that one of them mentioned Launchpad. At the time it came out I thought it was a gimmicky waste of time and energy to make OS X look more like the iPhone, so I removed as many shortcuts and references to it as I could. I finally forgot about it. (I still think it's a useless gimmick.)

Since I was reminded of it and people have had plenty of time to use it or ditch it, I thought I'd see what other people's thoughts were on it. Sometimes it's best to see what people think about a feature after it's had some time to sink in.

I gave up on the lame launchpad shortly after the first release. It does not follow Macintaosh design standards and is useless. Somebody is trying to make a Mac look like an iPhone.
