"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies

Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"

I tried this, but didn't work in my case... any other suggestions?

The fix that Frank Nospam offered is actually a fix for another problem that involved the Boot Camp assistant not being able to download the Windows Support Software.

I was able to fix the wireless issue in Windows 7 on my 2010 iMac after talking to Microsoft for an extensive amount of time. I changed two variables at once so I am not quite sure if they are jointly sufficient to fix the problem or if just the former will do the trick (I would try step 1 and if it does not work continue with step 2):

  1. I changed the channel that my wireless router used.Go to Apple Menue> About This Mac> More Info> (System Report..., if using lion)> Open the Network Category > Then select Wi-Fi. This will list the wireless networks with a visible SSID in your area. Scan for a number that is not being used by the visible networks. If your wireless router/modem is using a channel that is used in high volume, then this could be the problem. Connect to your wireless router via ethernet and the channel being used.
  2. On the Windows side I uninstalled the Atheros package in Control Panel "Program and Features". I then went to Device Manager and Uninstalled the Atheros Driver under the Network Device category. Then I restarted. I was then apple to connect to my network by typing in the SSID manually. However, although it now connects fine, It does not "Connect Automatically" ever time windows starts up I have to retype the SSID.

I hope this works for more people, it was really a pain figuring all this out.
