Battery drains faster since 4.3.5 iOS update
I'm noticing that my iPhone 4 battery is draining faster since last update. Is it just me? Is someone experiencing this? Is my iPhone battery dying?

It is not going to get resolved soon, or ever. It is not a problem specifically in 4.3.5. It has been a problem with every release over the past 4 years, as a search of the forum will confirm. And the ways to fix it haven't changed in 4 years.
You have to identify the app that is continuously trying to send data. There are lots of tips on how to find it (could be any one of the apps on your phone) throughout the forum, including some in the message thread you just posted to.
I've not had the problem before and I don't have any apps running that I didn't have before...
That's what everyone said, when they reported the problem with version 2.1, 2.2, 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.2.1, etc
Well in my case its true - I only use Hipstamatic.
And if this version of the iPhone 4 software is going to spoil Hipstamtic for me I want to go back to the older one - I don't use it for anything that "security" could be an issue - no access of the web, no email, nothing but photos.
THIS VERSION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. If you truly want to believe that it does that is your right, but that won't get the problem fixed. Any time a phone is updated there is a chance that the phone's metadata may become corrupted. That is what is causing your battery drain, which is a symptom, not the disease.
Do you have Exchange or other Push email (gmail, yahoo, MobileMe, corporate mail)? If you do it's almost certainly the problem. And it's easy to fix. If you don't turn off the app store, iTunes store, Ping and Game Center by setting Restrictions on them. If that fixes it reboot the phone and add turn them back on.
Its not a matter of belief but observtion.
Maybe my battery has broken at the same time as the update, that is the other possible explanation.
I only use Hipstamtic - its why I bought the iPhone.
I DO NOT use email on the iPhone - I absolutely hate the idea of having emails coming in when I'm taking photographs!
I think of my iPhone as a camera from which I can make emergency phone calls if necessary...
I don't play games on it either... or download music or any of those sorts of things.
I had this exact same problem after updating to iOS 4.3.5 . My battery was draining like no tomorrow. I checked my usage times under settings... general... usage. I knew that there was something wrong because under "Time since last charge", both usage and standby had the same time listed even though I had my iPhone in standby most of the time.
What fixed the problem was resetting the phone by holding the sleep and home buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears. I did this a couple of days ago and now my iPhone is back to its same battery efficient self. Also, I checked and the usage and standby times are now a lot different, as they should be.
Give this reset a try. Hope it helps!
Thanks Nicholas.
Good to hear someone who has had the same problem and a simple suggestion of what to try.
P.S. I had tried turning it off and on again but not this full reset.
Thank you, Nicholas! I tried your suggestion a few times and my battery seems back to normal, or maybe even better today. Supremely helpful - thank you!
Glad to hear that it worked! It seems like the iPhone wasn't really going to sleep even when you pushed the sleep\wake button and the screen turned off. Weird. Anyway, my phone was becoming unusable because the battery was draining very quickly. Like you said, the battery performance now seems like it might even be a bit better than before.
Since I removed my hotmail mail account (which is configured as an exchange account) the problem got solved for me. The behaviour of power consumption is back to normal.
NEVER have had any problems with my battery until 4.3.5. 100% at 2230 unpluged and played about 30min of music, closed my apps and set my alarms and went to bed apx 2300. 0630 wake up wondering why my alarms are not going off and find my phone dead..... ***, over....
Edit my previous post: I am also in Iraq and have my phone on airplane mode and wifi and location services turned off...... so what now....
