Battery drains faster since 4.3.5 iOS update

I'm noticing that my iPhone 4 battery is draining faster since last update. Is it just me? Is someone experiencing this? Is my iPhone battery dying?

It is not going to get resolved soon, or ever. It is not a problem specifically in 4.3.5. It has been a problem with every release over the past 4 years, as a search of the forum will confirm. And the ways to fix it haven't changed in 4 years.

You have to identify the app that is continuously trying to send data. There are lots of tips on how to find it (could be any one of the apps on your phone) throughout the forum, including some in the message thread you just posted to.

THIS VERSION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. If you truly want to believe that it does that is your right, but that won't get the problem fixed. Any time a phone is updated there is a chance that the phone's metadata may become corrupted. That is what is causing your battery drain, which is a symptom, not the disease.

Do you have Exchange or other Push email (gmail, yahoo, MobileMe, corporate mail)? If you do it's almost certainly the problem. And it's easy to fix. If you don't turn off the app store, iTunes store, Ping and Game Center by setting Restrictions on them. If that fixes it reboot the phone and add turn them back on.

Its not a matter of belief but observtion.

Maybe my battery has broken at the same time as the update, that is the other possible explanation.

I only use Hipstamtic - its why I bought the iPhone.

I DO NOT use email on the iPhone - I absolutely hate the idea of having emails coming in when I'm taking photographs!

I think of my iPhone as a camera from which I can make emergency phone calls if necessary...

I don't play games on it either... or download music or any of those sorts of things.

I had this exact same problem after updating to iOS 4.3.5 . My battery was draining like no tomorrow. I checked my usage times under settings... general... usage. I knew that there was something wrong because under "Time since last charge", both usage and standby had the same time listed even though I had my iPhone in standby most of the time.

What fixed the problem was resetting the phone by holding the sleep and home buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears. I did this a couple of days ago and now my iPhone is back to its same battery efficient self. Also, I checked and the usage and standby times are now a lot different, as they should be.

Give this reset a try. Hope it helps!
