I am having awful problems with mouse and trackpad after installing Lion

I have tried 3 different brands of mice and it happens with each one. the mouse clicks and sticks spontaniously and wont let go and hitting esc or trying to click somewhere else doesn't have any effect - it wont let go. And it doesn't seem to matter which program. At forst i thought it was just pwer point but it still happens if I command/tab over to mail or finder. and then I get the stupid wheel of death. power point (or whatever program I'm in) locks up. and then I lose recent edits.

I have a Mac book pro. I have use and external keyboard and monitor when I'm at my office.

When the problem has happened I have tried using the trackpad - but it's like it's dead. No click effect. No help!

I AM REALLY TRYING TO NOT GET ANGRY - BUT I AM READY TO SCRAP LION!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!

To give additional control for mouse or trackpad try this little app and it is free. http://magicprefs.com/

If you still have problems then I would suggest you try re-installing Lion.

For me the problem turned out to be the MAIN battery in my LAPTOP!

One of the side effects of a bad laptop battery apparently can be the spastic mouse effect. Has something to do with settings being reset due to the intermittent power problems etc? (Even though my lap top it plugged in most of the time...go figure??)

Lion may be more sensitive to battery issues or it was coincidence?? Either way - are you sure your laptop battery is good?

Hope this helps!

After installing a SSD sometimes the mouse left button was getting stick, the function of left click per se.

After many things that I tried, I notice that the problem was not happening if I used the power only, the laptop without the battery in. That worked good. But later I tried disabling the "Ignore build-in trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present" checkoff under -System preferences- Mouse & Trackpad - Trackpad options -

And that cure the problem.

No more mouse/trackpad errors.
