is iDVD included with the new Lion iMacs?

Macrumors just posted this on the front page, and I want to make sure iDVD is included with the new iMacs (that come with Lion pre-installed).

from Macrumors front page:

"Apple is in the process of phasing out iWeb and iDVD and does not offer them for download via the Mac App Store or include them on the new MacBook Air and Mac mini."

And I notice on Apple's iMac page, they don't mention iDVD:

I was quite puzzeled by this as well. Just got a new IMac (Lion installed) from the Apple Store online. (Did not get a install disk either) Went to down load a file from the camcorder and then tried to burn a DVD. Oh boy, No IDVD! Funny thing though, it appears in the Share option but the software is not there. Spoke with Apple support, they said IDVD is no longer being installed. Why I asked? No clear answer, but it seems ICloud is the new vision. So to make a long story short, if you still want to edit and burn DVD's from your new Mac your gonna have to purchase iLife 11' to do so. IDVD as well as iWeb are on there as well. I sure wish this software was preinstalled when I first made my purchase though. Another $50 bucks to Apple. 😟 Oh well life is short.

apple sent me a frre copy of i life 11.local apple store installed it as it was not so straigth forward as i thought. all works ok now. apple will give you a copy if you ask as it should have been explained at purchase that it would not be included.!still all ok now.next problem is text and toolbars too small on my 27" mac.never had this problem on pc,thought biger screen bigger text.not possible unless you reduce resolution, which then gives fuzzy edges.

so far not too impressed with mac,but will give it time as had pc for many years.thought mac would be a big jump forward.an insignificant step so far.

As mentioned, the App Store offers iLife 11 which does not contain iDVD or iWeb. I bought my new (2011) iMac a few weeks ago and it came with Snow Leopard and included both iDVD and iWeb, and my Lion 7.0 downloaded from the App Store a couple of weeks ago or so (and what a palaver that was!) included both, and both launch in Lion 7.1. Therefore, both were still current very recently.

But it looks like Apple have now dropped tham.

On the other hand, Apple Discussions still includes these two applications (whereas DVD Studio Pro was dropped from Apple Discussions a few weeks ago). And I have just noticed that Software Update includes updates for both of them so I am right now downloading them in case they too disappear! (Downloaded, and both launch OK (in Lion 7.1).

Why does Apple have to act so secretly, confusingly and without notice? "Computing for the rest of us" implies communication.

I spoke with support. No free copy for me. 😟 I am scared now that iLife 11 is gonna be filled with bugs I can't quicky correct. Anyone else having issues after installing iLife 11 on thier new iMac running Lion? I don't want to pay $49 bucks and have a bunch of issues. Heck I might just get a stand alone DVD burner, but where would be the fun in the editing.

is iDVD included with the new Lion iMacs?
