is iDVD included with the new Lion iMacs?

Macrumors just posted this on the front page, and I want to make sure iDVD is included with the new iMacs (that come with Lion pre-installed).

from Macrumors front page:

"Apple is in the process of phasing out iWeb and iDVD and does not offer them for download via the Mac App Store or include them on the new MacBook Air and Mac mini."

And I notice on Apple's iMac page, they don't mention iDVD:

No iDVD is not included.

Apple is looking more like Microsoft by the day.

Yes Share->iDVD is still an option in iMovie.

It will take forever to render your movie and then complain that it can't find iDVD.

You do a search in spotlight and get a cool page in Dictionairy explaining you all about the app they don't deliver.

You'll get pages on the web about iLife'11 including iDVD sending you to the app store.... without iDVD.

I think Bill Gates is the replacement of Steve.

But the good news is that you can copy your old Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD 7/ to your new Lion Install. And Download and install the iDVD7.1.2 Update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1414

You can still buy the retail package of iLife 11 which includes iDVD and iWeb (even at the online Apple store - not the app store).

And for michaelfromwestparley: usually the burn speed has to do with your media. I have some older DVDs with the slowest speed of 2x - the same brand purchased a year later, the minimum is 4x. I mention that because you will wind up with fewer errors by burning at slower speeds - that is the general recommendation. I realize that takes a little longer, but I have never been concerned with a few extra minutes vs. having to throw away a toaster.

Just got of the phone with Apple Support Netherlands, no iDVD on the mac with Lion, no iDVD send, no free iLife'11 or any other solution.

In the menu of iMovie you can still find burn to iDVD but how can it work without iDVD :-(

Apple wake up!!!

How can i burn a simple photo slide on DVD?? Apple??

There is still a need to burn for example:

Family film and photo DVD slideshows to show with a DVD player.

Photographers who need to burn nice slides on DVD for there own use or for customers

Burn slides for archive and portfolio

If iDVD was in the app store it would help many people.

Make a couple of phone calls.

iDVD is a “Must Have". (Yes, it should be included.)

Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.

Most people report that by asking here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/idvd.html

or here: http://www.apple.com/contact/

they got a free copy of iDVD.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11 on disk (don't get the download) for about $39.

I just contacted apple support at the number Ziatron provided and they said that iDVD is no longer available. They said they could not send me a disk and that it is not included in the iLife install disks. They offered the "solution" of purchasing third-party software. I politely expressed my disatisfaction with that solution and they suggested I leave "feedback" on the support website.

Thank you! This is a correct answer. I called and got treated pretty rudely by tech support; but, after jumping through the hoops that "Cole" made me, I was transferred to Customer Service. Percy, in customer service, was very nice and is sending me a copy of iLife '11 for my new iMac.

Cole in tech support said I had to say, "I want you to send me a copy of iLife '11." If you don't say that directly, you do not get to move to customer service and you do not get iDVD. Yes, I feel my arm has been twisted and I had to say "Uncle" to Apple. WOW!

BUT, Percy was very courteous and nice.
