None of this has worked for me. Removing and reinstalling worked, but the problem came back less than a week later.

This solution thread fixed my problem easily and simply with instructions even I could follow: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3280228 .

If that doesn't work, this solution thread has suggestions: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3275295?start=0&tstart=0

i feel i had to post here to not only thank Rodfromnewark but to say this fix also fixed my Safari browser. I had uninstalled safari about a week ago as i could not get it working and decided to give up on it. then today i tried to access the Itunes store for the first time in two months. low and behold i got the hanging problem and found this thread. i fixed Itunes and then thought Hmm i wonder if it has now fixed a very similar issue in safari, and yes the good news is both now work

thanks all and praise be to Rodfromnewark!

Rodfromnewark....is there another password to use instead of netsh winsock reset? I am getting an invalid password message. I uninstalled all apple stuff. Tried to do the command prompt, but the password wouldn't work. I just re-downloaded itunes and I am still getting the half load for the store! Oy can yiu help please?
