Bootcamp Macbook Air 2011 "No Bootable device"

where did you get your transcend usb. i cant find any.

In Europe. May be with another Brand name in USA ?

Could people here tell which USB key can boot and which cannot ?

I think we have a different problem than most people. They have problems with their usb drives. We have problem to select the hard drive partition. The installer of Windows 7 don't recognize it! Maybe as you said it's a driver problem of the SSD.

No, I spent time enough. This MBA isn't my main computer so I'll use MacOS for a while and waiting for an update of Bootcamp 4

I'm a "lucky" owner of several OEM Win Seven, I mean Home, Ultimate, 32 or 64... and there is probably something wrong with non-english MacOS versions.

I had exactly the same "full-stop" with Bootcamp 3.0, and it was solved with Bootcamp 3.1.

Well, I like Lion, but I also need Seven to work !!!

Please let me know, I downloaded VirtualBox but I abort the install because I don't know exactly how it can work after 5mn... If I spend 2 or 3 hours to get a full windows install with a CS5.5, I'd like to choose the right parameters for VirtualBox... before !!!

I got bootcamp sucesfully installed on the New 2011 MBA w/ Lion using a Patriot x-porter 8GB flash drive. No extra drivers, iso utilities, or software. I just let the bootcamp assistant do its thing and win 7 32 bit pro oem is up and running.

The flash drive makes a difference. Those of us who have had success with a particular brand/model flash drive please post for everyone else.

I used the app "burn" to create my win ISO for the record. Its free and open-source.

I too encounterd the "No bootable device ..." problem but stumbled upon a solution that might work for others. When you get this screen, hold hown the power button for 8-10 seconds until the computer turns off. Then hold down the "option" key and press the power key. After a few seconds I got a screen allowing me to select the USB thumbdrive, and it then booted and went into windows installation. Everything proceeded normally after that.

My USB stick is a Kingston 8 GB, part number DT101G2.

I also couldn't do it the first time.

But when I tried to insert the usb drive to the usb port of the other side, It booted successfully.

PNY tiny little thing (2x the size of the USB head) --- not bootable. Bought it from BB for this very purpose and it failed me.

Off to the store to buy a different brand.

Bought a 16GB SanDisk from Costco. SUCCESS.

It is now September 2011 (= Lion + Boot Camp 4), and I just installed Windows 7 x64 on an 11" MacBook Air using the latest Boot Camp Assistant.

Because I had read articles like "The Windows 7 On The MacBook Air: Don't Go There" which claim that DVD drives work better than flash drives, or that you need third-party tools like rEFIt in order to boot from a USB flash drive, I had attached an external DVD drive instead of going the flash way. But in my case that turned out to be wrong.

The external DVD drive method gave the "No Bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key" messages mentioned in this thread. Then I retried letting Boot Camp Assistant create a bootable USB flash drive, and it worked flawlessly.

I just thought I mention this, as this thread is getting a high ranking on the issue, yet it is based in part on outdated information. Boot Camp Assistant can now do much more than in the past, like creating a bootable flash drive.

Tools I used: Lion with latest updates, an old 8 GB flash drive, and the ISO image of the Windows 7 x64 SP1 install media (if you don't have it, it can be created from the physical DVD).

I have the same problem. I find out today how ti fix the problem. I just copy tje files bootcamp made on the wininstall folder to the \ "root" of the USB stick. Then the USB stick was bootabled :-)

Hopefully this can work for others to.
