Why is IDVD changing the format of my video from 4:3 to 16:9

I've been exporting QT movies fro Final Cut Pro to IDVD that 720x480 NTSC DV. After several successful attempts, one movie showed a 16x9 "preview" before I burned it to a disc image. I has never seen that before, so I ignored it...big mistake, it burned the img in 16x9.

I checked the QT movie and it has the correct settings. I tried starting it as a new project and had the same result with a 16x9 preview so I scrubbed the whole thing. I then took another QT movie from the same Final Cut file and it made the img correctly. Any idea what's going on?

Sorry, but this doesn't help. I know how to export from FCP, been doing it for years. I've tried every workaround I know, and then some. There is another odd thing. I dumped the IDVD plist yesterday hoping that would help. When I looked today for a new one, it did not exist. I thought that was created automatically?

Maybe this topic will help: 16x9 aspect ratio quicktime movie switches to 4x3 in idvd. Although it's the reverse change the tools described might help. Then there's always the Fix 101 method: delete the iDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist.

Thanks, the plist was the first thing I tried. I gave up and made a new recording of the movie on tape, dumped it back in and it worked. I've since worked on two other sequences from the same footage and it works fine. I can only guess that the original digitized footage was corrupt in some way...oh well
