iPhone 4 Wont finish backup, sync with iTunew in Windows.

My iPhone 4, 4.3.3, won't complete a sync with iTunes 10.4.0.80 in Windows 7. In fact, it hangs at the backup stage, so I can't even restore it. After several hours I give up and end up "slide to Cancel", and ultimately have to use Task Manager to force iTunes to quit. I have tried this 10 times now, after performing PC repairs, disk repairs, reinstalling iTunes, rebooting the iPhone, rebooting the PC... All to no benefit.

I see there are several questions about this problem and no one is answering them.

I have the same issue with all iGizmos v7.0.3 and latest iTunes, although I am running Windows XP SP3. But I have also noticed that while the "Finishing sync..." message is in the window, the Sync button down below has also become available, and I can click on it and the Finishing sync msg goes away. When I sync again no "Finishing sync.."

There is definitely something different about the combo of iOS 7.0.3 and iTunes 11.2.23 that ain't right.
