Iphone screen goes black during calls. . .

I have an iPhone 7 + and I have the same problem. It's very difficult to recreate this issue. The genius' at Apple won't replace the device unless the problem is there for them to see.

For me this just happened twice and each call was > 30 minutes. Hmm..

I have an iPhone 6. For the last few days, when I'm on the phone, the screen turns black so that I can't even hang up with the person. other people who have a 6 have been having the same troubles. Usually, I just press the home screen and it comes back on, but yesterday the lady was pushing the home screen on her phone, and nothing was happening .Yesterday I was calling and using the keypad to enter numbers. It was just sitting on my desk, so I wasn't moving it and the screen turned black several times while I was pushing numbers. I had to push the home button to get it on again. I looked up online and saw that to fix this problem, I needed to turn off LTE on cellular. I did that and it still did not work. I also updated it to the new iOS 10.2 and it still does not work.

It also turns black when I am talking to Siri, holding down the home button. It goes black when she is responding, then goes back on. Very strange.

Fixed it! Because this just started within the last week, a thought popped into my head about which app I downloaded just within the last week. Ding! Ding! Ding! I downloaded "I heart radio." So I deleted it, did a soft reset ( I had done a soft reset before and had no success), and voila! It worked. I did a few test calls to make sure, and I talked to Siri, and I have not had any issues with the screen going black. I am not saying that this will work for anyone else, but this is what worked for me. For some reason, "I heart radio" is what messed it up.

I have an iPhone 7+, and I am having this exact issue. I feel like it started after the 10.2 update, but I'm not positive on that. I've tried 3 factory resets, 2 from backup and 1 from scratch, and have already had the phone replaced by T-Mobile once with no resolution. AppleCare seems completely unaware of the issue, and the techs in the Apple Store only suggest reset options, which clearly doesn't help. Since I only have a limited time to return this phone and get out of the contract while I'm still in the buyer's remorse period, it looks like my first experience with iOS will also be my last. 8 yrs of Android, 24 days of iOS, and now back to Android again. Shame, I really wanted to like this phone...

I'm having the same issue and mentioned it to my son who is a computer programmer/coder and he said in terms I could understand, lol, that it had to do with landline phones. At least that's what he had heard, something about the phone sends out a ping to the phone, but a landline can't respond to a ping like a cell phone can, so it basically just keeps reloading. When my son told me that it kind of made sense, because it only happens to me when I'm talking to companies/businesses which are using landline phones. Hope this helps everyone understand.

My iPhone 6 (purchased new 2.5 years ago from Apple) just started doing this. It seemed associated with latested iOS. By turning off auto brightness seems to have stopped this issue.

Bought a new screen protector for it and haven't had any issues.

Just spoke to Apple care, the rep told me she had the same problem with her new 7. But since no data is lost, their solution is to reboot.

It's so irritating! It's done it a few times now. The worst was while calling into work leaving a voicemail for my boss!!

Well, since my prior post the auto dimmer "solution" had no impact on this malfunction.

This happens to my IPhone 6 occasionally. When it happens, I do this : Hold home button + Volume Control buttons + Power button together for 5 seconds. Doing this, the phone restarts.

As your phone is jailbroken there are so many possibilities that it is impossible to diagnose. The fact that it is hacked can cause innumerable problems.
