Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Using Canon LBP7200Cdn (networked) with Lion

After upgrading to Lion, I deleted the printer, downloaded Canon's new driver (3.36), uninstalled previous drivers, installed 3.36, and registered the printer. During registration I got the error message: "Unable to verify the printer on your network."

As instructions said, I continued, printer was created. However, no program I've tried (Preview, Word, browsers) will print. I always get the error message "/Library/Printers/Canon/CUPSCAPT/Bins/capdftopdl failed".

I've tried several times, rebooted & tried again, etc. Can anybody (PAHU?) see where I might be missing something?

Just want to chip in my two cents:

There are two things that are worth checking;

1- when you add the printer on a computer, the "share printer" box should be unchecked in the set-up window. The printer is shared by definition over the network. If you do check the "share printer" checkbox, MacOS tries to share it through the bonjour protocol at the same time. Not a good idea.

2- you could try to assign a fixed ip address to the printer with the NetSpot Device Installer software that you can download from the Canon website.

I couldn't get the printer to work from one computer in my network and after applying the suggestions above everything works flawlessly. I'm running MacOS 10.6.8, not 10.7 though, but it won't hurt to try these.

It took me a few weeks to find the answer with my iMac with MacOs 10.7 and the LBP7200Cdn. In my case it appeared to be a font problem. (I discovered this by a restart Lion in safe mode). You can also check that out by moving your fonts in /Library/Fonts and usr/Library/Fonts to 2 new maps on the desktop. Leaving only the fonts in System/Library/Fonts active. Then try to print again.

Afterwards you have to find out which font is corrupt: a nice job.

Good Luck
