I'm having the same issue. I have Windows 7 (64bit). Everything worked fine until the last itunes update, now it won't load the store home page at all. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, checking my firewall, etc. Still no luck. Guess apple doesn't want me to buy anymore music form them. Think I'll start using Amazon again.
I also have Windows 7 (64-bit) and have not been able to access the iTunes store. I also update Safari 5 at the same time and It has quit working altogether. I have done everything in all the discussion boards to fix it but nothing work. I need help. It's been almost a week since this happened! Apple still hasn't sent an update!
Same problem my itunes updated to 10.4 them bam cant back up my iphone of access itunes store
You need to uninstall ALL Apple software (Itunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, Airport etc.) You then reinstall Itunes and it works. Incredible that Apple couldn't have posted the solution days ago. They don't even admit they have a bug in their software....
I have had the same problem since installing the updated version a week ago! Tried EVERYTHiNG in the troubleshooter and nothing has worked. Even tried uninstalling and reinstalling.....NOTHING! Am NOT happy!
In spite of all the useless apple support advice, the solution that worked for me was simple and not even discussed in any apple support solution.
You need to reset your winsock by running your command prompt as administrator. In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer. Reboot and once you're back up your itunes should be able to access the store no problem.
Hope this helps.
This worked for me too. Thanks a lot.
The winsock thing is not working for me. neither is the total uninstall of all apple software and reinstall. any other options???
I'm having similar issues (also with Safari).
I raised a support email to Apple/itunes and got the standard 'you will receive a response within 24 hours' auto responder. That was the day before yesterday. So It doesn't seem like apple/itunes are going to be too much help.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering. I'll try the winsock thing and the full apple uninstall and see how it goes.
Heck if I get bored I'll reinstall windows from the ground up.
I used your advice and my downloads are coming through! Thank you so much!

worked like a charm.... Thanks for help!!!!
Worked for me as well. Many Thx
Perfect solution. May be MTG68 could share how this simple solution was arrived at? I'm sure this wont be the last time iTunes causes grief...
And now to tackle the backup issue...
I have the same issue, but I'm using Vista Home 32bits and XP 32bits. Can tell me how to solve the problem? Thanks.
