Lion gives proxy problems (no https)

At work I can only access the web via a proxy server, using my MacBook Pro. After upgrading to Lion the internet connection via proxy at work became terribly slow and https sites became unaccessable ("proxy server denied..." or something like that). At home, without proxy, these problems do not exist.

I've reinstalled Snow Leopard. Everything workes fine again. What might be the problem here with Lion?

You're not alone, you're just posting to an Apple Hosted website. We are all just other users like yourself here trying to help each other. Apple do not post here to help with technical questions.

Over 1 millions downloads of Lion on day one so the ones that do have problems come here. Your last post was 4 hours ago but already it is on page 4 or 5 so questions quickly disappear from view.

Do any of the other posts in More Like This lead to any answers?

Situation (again): internet connection at work is through my employer's proxy server, so in my browser (Firefox) I have to enter the proxy data (proxy.blah.local, port 8080).

Results:

MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard, Firefox - no problem

HP laptop, Windows 7, Firefox - no problem

MacBook Pro, Lion, Firefox - problem

Using Lion, I get a message stating the proxy server refuses the connection. On the internet I have found some sort of solution. I have to enter:

about:config

in Firefox's address bar, then click: I'll be careful, I promise

Then look up:

network.negotiate

and change the line:

network.negotiate-auth.allow-proxies default boolean

true into false

by doubleclicking on that line.

Now it's no longer a problem to fully access the internet via proxy server. Since the problem only exists for Lion, I think Apple should solve it.
