Mac OS X Lion WiFi issues

Hello everyone,

I have been on every post and found this ///tried it and it worked.......I had tried many other things also, but this one has worked ...I have had uninterupted connection for 5 days now. Hope it helps!!

Hi you all,

I got tired of this wifi issue. I just need a computer that works well all the time, so I went back to OSX 10.6, same thing with my iphone 3gs, IOS 5 does not work and I am still trying to downgrade to any other IOS, and as you might already know, downgrading is Mission Impossible.

I have loved Apple stuff, Macintosh Plus, Classic, Quadra, Centris, Performa all the pawer macs, G3, G4, G5, mini, macbook pro, Mac Pro, iPhone, Ipad, and I have owned at least 12 apple computers throughout my life. Never had any major problems until now.

Apple people do not forget thinking about what made you guys different.

Rico, thanks for trying, that was a fun trip! But alas, still have the same router issues after going on it. My wifi searches for new networks every 12 seconds. (This is a two-second improvement, it used to search every 10 seconds.)

Alas, still no fix.

I see you are still trying to make OS Lion wifi to work. I quit trying and went back to OSX 10.6 It works great for me and will not try Lion until these bugs are fixed.

I ended up just getting an airport extreme router for my home iMac with lion x. It's been doing good with wireless connection for the past 36 hours. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be if I did have to leave my home with lion x.

Fix this already apple!

I had the same issue as most of you, my MacBook Early 08 just stopped working the WiFi connection after I update my Lion to 10.7.2 version. Even when I tried to recovery from backup it didn't work.

What SOLVE THIS ISSUE for me was recovery the last backup before 10.7.2 (10.7, in my case) and than re-install the lastest updates (10.7.2), so it works for me.

Don't forget that you will have to use time machine to recovery each file or data base manually you were working before.

I posted this as a possible answer in another post... I read, that if you have a lot of wifi devices (more than 5) in your house, or in the surrounding area (and you may not be aware of how many 2.4Ghz devices are in the neighborhood, i.e wireless telephones, wireless printers, etc), if you change your router setting to 802.11n only (5Ghz) that should aleviate any dropping. But then you might need an Airport Express to print, if you have a wireles printer, and the Airport Express acts sort of like a bridge, turning your wireless printer to a wired printer. Try changing the setting on your router so it reads 802.11n only (5Ghz). Or you could revert back to G.

I was having a similar Problem with 2008 MacBook, Wifi was connected, but the connection/sites/skype seemed to hang every 5 minutes, altough Wifi showed a strong signal.

Problem showed only on the 2 white 2008 macbooks, iphones and android phones kept a stable connection.

Fixed it by setting my Wireless Router to "G" (54MBit) speed only, instead of mixed "G/N" (54/130MBit) speed.

Only 54MBit wireless now, but connection is stable again.

This solution worked for me, it might help as my Wifi connection has been stable for 3 days now.

On my MacBook Pro, I changed my TCP/IP to “DHCP manual” and entered all the required information IP, SUBNET, Router and DNS information manually. Next I logged into my wireless router and assigned the same fixed (static) IP that I assigned to my MAC on the router which would be the only IP my router will have assigned for my Mac to connect to the wireless.

Lastly, I Rebooted my router and Mac... No more loss connections.

yep me too, ive been through many discussion forums describing the same problem, none have fixed it !

The only real sulotion that fixes your wi-fi is giong back to snow leopard. All wi-fi settings should be at default, and your internet does't drop in Snow Leopard i wait until a update solves this issue. Apple is aware of this issue since 10.7.1 they include fixes for wi-fi stablity in 10.7.3 they made things worse i downgraded and the issue was solved. Hope you guys get back to Snow Leopard and enjoy stable wi-fi.

I too am having the same problem. I stumbled upon the following solution from a blog. It worked for me:

Just UNCHECK that "Re-open windows when logging back in" button when you log out or shut down and then restart.

I'd also tried all the tips and tricks but to no avail on my mbp. Reinstallation of Lion seemed to stop the problem for a day or so, then came back with a vengeance.

Over the weekend I backed up everything I needed. erased the hard disk and reinstalled Leopard. Bingo. Stopped the complaints in the house too as it 'must' have been my fault Lion kept losing connectivity to the router.

Apple said to bring it in so the Genius' can take a look at it. Will await a fix to Lion.

I'm amazed how slow my iMac has become since I "upgraded" to 10.7.3. (what a downgrade!). It was fine for the first few days and now it has become a nightmare. Even in the days of my 33.6 kbps modem 16 years ago it wasn't so bad. Downloading a 3 Mo PDF now takes me a dozen attempts and about an hour of continuous monitoring.

How am I supposed to work and generate income with a piece of crap like that? The only reason I didn't throw my Mac out of the window is that I can't see if there's someone on the sidewalk before throwing it. And of course I can't go back to 10.6 otherwise I'll loose the "wonderful" iCloud since I already "upgraded" to that too.

Forgive me if I haven't read every single page about this wi-fi problem under Lion, but does someone somewhere -ideally at Apple- actually know the root cause of this @#$% mess? How long before a real fix?

Go to Spotlight, search for Activity Monitor. Open it. Look at what is hogging your system resoruces. Look at what is using the most CPU%. Look at what items are not Intel 64 Bit compare that to what is Intel 64 Bit. Also did you install any software for an external hard drive, maybe something like "WD + Turbo" installer"?
