I am thinking it is (not your computer per say) but rather how you have everthing set up. You have multiple local wifi networks being created at your home/ office and you have some sharing channel 1, and some using wpa, wep, and then you have some using N and some using G. And I am not sure, you said you were using an Airport Extreme? Are you using your Airport Extreme to connect to another network (such as 2WIRE915) - I am not clear on your setup. And I have the same Atheros wifi chip as you so good chances it is not the chip, and I have Lion, so chances are its not that either. This is what mine looks like. I have one network, but I have two routers - the primary router is a time capsule, the secondary router is an Airport Extreme which extends the primary network. You can also see my transmit rates are pretty good.
