OS Lion Mail: Microsoft Exchange Server Rejects Password

Hello,

I just upgraded to Lion and was attempting to set up all of my email accounts into Mail. My Yahoo, AOL, and Gmail accounts all worked fine, but my Microsoft Exchange account did not. When I set it up through Settings originally, everything seemed fine and it had no problem verifying the account. However, when I try to retrieve mail from the Exchange account within Mail, it gives me an error saying that the server rejected the password and then prompts me to enter the password again. I enter the correct password, and the same window pops up over and over again. Has anyone found a fix to this problem?

Thank you!

Just ran into the same problem. My company is using 2003. The funny thing is, both my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 running the latest iOS (4.3.5) have no problem at all connecting to the old Exchange 2003 server. I understand Microsoft phasing out 8-year-old legacy software, but knowing that lots of companies are too cheap to upgrade old software (that's still working fine for them), it's a little perplexing why Apple (or any mail client developer) would remove compatibility with it. It's just hurting end users.

IOS supports E2003, OSX does not, but you can use Entourage on OSX and it will connect to E2003

As it seems the only possible solutions for people want to work with Exchange in Lion OS X are:

a) Buy PC

b) Buy additional Software

c) and this is axiomatic: don't use Apple Mail

Seriously, Apple: ***?!?!

As soon I am forced to downgrade my SL to Lion, and these issues still exist, I'll be **** sure to trash my MBA with OS X and buy me a Thinkpad with Win7/8.

Epic Fail!

I agree that this lack of support for Exchnage 2003 is very very annoying, but we should realize that also Microsoft itself is not supporting Exchange 2003 in its Outlook for Mac 2011 product anymore. I guess MS has an incentive to promote customers to upgrade their Exchange, more than Apple does.

Missed opportunity for Apple to continue support for Exchange 2003, and thus have an edge over MS for Mac users to use Macmail instead of MS Office...

hi there. true enough, Mac OSX Lion will not with with exchange 2003. I have specifically written on an article on this. However, there is still a solution to connect exchange 2003, which is via Davmail, as long as the company provided a working Outlook Web Access (OWA) to their staff. I have wrote a step-by-step guide on using this solution here: http://awangshamsul.net/?p=178. Have a try

You can also use Microsoft Entourage 2008 on Lion, it connects to Exchange 2003 very well.

Hi I think I have a similar prob. I just bought my first ever Mac with OS Lion operating system. My company uses exchange 2003. I also bought Microsoft Office 2011 and cannot acess my work mail and calendar. It has been suggested Microsoft Entourage 2008 might work for me. The only problem is I cannot purchase it as only Office 2011 is sold now.

Can anyone help - 1) will Entourage 2008 solve my problem (and what is the EXACT name of the product I need to buy? and 2) How do I purchase Microsoft Entourage 2008? Thanks AG

Our office has recently moved Exchange 2010, and I was initially able to set up Exchange Account in Apple Mail. This was this past Monday. Starting from today I have the same problem. I cannot even access my email though webmail on my iMac, even though I can easily do so using iPad or iPhone...

Is there anything I can do about this problem?
