I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro, and recently upgraded to Lion. The cursor has become very unstable and disappears from view in Safari, Numbers, iCalc, etc. Does anyone know what is happening? Is this a Lion glitch?

My guess is that it's a Lion glitch. If I press F10, the cursor comes back.
thanks for the tip, i'll try the f10 key. had my iMac for two weeks and have several issues i thought i could eliminate when i tossed my pc...alas, just a different set of issues....hey, but the computer looks good.

I also have the same problem with my new Macbook pro w/o retina display. My problem just started today. The cursor won't come back until a make frantic movements on the track pad. Still can click and things get highlighted but i can't see the cursor at all. Apple please fix. This should not be happening.
I've had this issue for a while also but I think I've finally resolved it. Looks like it may not be a Mac OS X issue but an Adobe Flash Player issue. Updating to the latest version (11.4) of Adobe Flash Player seems to have fixed it for me. Below is the link to the Flash Player download page, for your convenience:

The cursor will still disapper after a few seconds of inactivity when the video is in full screen mode but it will reappear immediately when you move the mouse.
Hope this resolves your issues as well.

Well, looks like it's not a perfect fix. The cursor doesn't always reappear after the cursor disappears but it is better then it was before. Oh well.... <sigh> 😕
I first posted to this discussion on Sep. 9, 2011. The problem has transcended Lion and now lives happily unsolved in Mountain Lion. I use a agriculture mouse, but I can't confirm if it's involved in the problem of the disappearing cursor. Howevever, the problem only occurs when I use Safari and it can be solved by quitting and rerunning Safari. Is Flash involved? I am not sure, but it could be. It would be great if someone could find a repeating pattern, such as watching videos. Apple should really look at this closely.

I'm also having the same issue with a 4 year old 13" macbook pro.
As far as I can tell it seems to be related to Flash.
If I go to the website www.abc.net.au/iview and then tab to other pages while a video is running it vanishes. If I head back the running video and pause it the cursor reappears.
... still I'm completely stumpted.
