Silver Keeper stops support

Luckily, Silverkeeper still works in Lion but since they dropped support I am looking for an alternative when some update kills it.

Anyone using a Silver Keeper like app for backups?

Features it needs:

1. Custom sets and schedules

2. Backups of all sets at once

3. Ability of save a set number of copies of a folder before starting over.

4. Fast

I am not a fan of Time Machine hogging my external drive. If there are other suggestions on how to limit Time Machine's hog the drive process I would be interested as well.

Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper! are very popular with many OS X users and pros. The latest versions of each are Lion compatible. Synk and Synk Pro 7.x are both Lion compatible.

One of the reasons I will use Silver keeper until it dies is its ability to easily create backup sets and, if you wish, to back them all up at once. I could not figure a way to do that with Carbon Copy Cloner. It also has a cool feature that I don't see in the others, the ability to make several copies of a folder and reuse them. I do this for iWeb. Silver Keeper creates an iWeb, iWeb2 and iWeb3 folder before it starts over and deletes the info in the iWeb folder.

I am not a "save a thousand versions" type of guy. Most of the time I just replace all modified files, with the occasional duplicated folder like I do in iWeb. Silver Keeper can mix and match preferences easily and it is still free.

I'm disappointed too that Silverkeeper isn't supported anymore since I use it four times every weekday in order to, in the morning, move files from my home computer to a pocket drive to my work computer and back again at the end of the day.

I'm hoping someone can recommend one of the other backup programs so that I don't have to spend the many hours it would take to test them. I care only about one feature: The program's ability to smart copy a folder from one drive to another (that is, its ability to copy only the changed items in a folder to another drive without compression). I don't require any scheduling features or multiple backup features.

Its a simple need and Silverkeeper satisfied it perfectly.

About 15-20 years ago, there was a feature available for the Mac that enabled "smart copying" by simply dragging a folder on one drive to another drive with a folder that had the same title. That feature would satisfy me just as well.

I'd appreciate someone's help.
