How do I know my iPod touch is authentic?

I just bought it on eBay. It looks good in iTunes and it runs perfectly, capacity on iTunes shows up beautifully - all LOOKS well, until I looked at the back. No logo, nothing etched into the back but some scratches. Did I just get a stolen iPod?? Did someone figure out how to make a fake one? Was the case possibly replaced?? What is the deal here I'm a little worried I just paid $112 for this thing!! Thanks for the help!

well, with a country like China, they can even make eggs that are fake.

anyway, there is one very simple way to determine whether the iPod you bought was a fake.

plugged it in, if iTunes recognised it and on the device information part, the serial numbers are all there, chances are it is the real stuffs and probably the original owner rubbed the apple logo off for some very odd reasons.

i've seen many fake "apple" stuffs including a fake iPhone which looks exactly like the original one however, once you plugged it into the pc, the pc immediately recognised it as nothing other than a USB Mass Drive.

on the stolen property issue, there is no way to know for sure because unless you go and cross check with your nearest police department to see if any one report a loss iPod which corresponce with the serial number that of the iPod that you bought.
