Outlook will not Sync Calendar

It used to work but not it doesn't. After spending several hours with Apple support, my outlook calendar still will not sync with my IPhone. ITunes goes through all the gyrations, devices talk to each other. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes several times, sync test complets successfully. I have also noticed that when I do sync, the backup history is not accurate. I do not see any record of the most recent back up. I just can figure this out, any suggestions would be helpful.

Finally figured my situation out. Whew... I deleted three appts from my outlook 2010 calendar that were not showing up on my iphone when I tried to sync it. Figured it had to be there. None of these were reoccuring appts, but two did have and 'invite' to my husband. Not sure if the fix came here. What I did realize on a different appt. is that I had entered an 'early day' appt on a reoccuring basis every wednesday from now through June 2012. However, I did not appoint it a time to begin or end...it was listed as an 'All Day' event. So my computer may have been jammed with the 'All Day' reoccuring event that would happen each Wednesday. Once I unchecked the 'All Day' box and gave it an actual time to start and end my calendar began to sync correctly. I am so amazed in disbelief that I have had to look at my calendar several times on my phone to believe it is actually working correctly. So, check your reoccuring appts as others have suggested, or find the appts that seem to not want to cross over to your iphone and delete them out of your computer...then put them back in. I hope this can help someone else down the road.

Hi,

Everyone, thanks for your suggestions. So far no change. I'm getting ready to dump this Apple product and move to a window's based phone. I NEED a reliable sync calendar. There is no logical reason why my outlook calendar and my phone calendar shoudl sync.

Today I updated to Itunes 10.4.1.1. I made all the changes you suggested by deleting all repeating apts. When that did not work, I added new reoccuring apts but made sure "all day" was not checked. I tried using a different USB port as recommended.

There are a couple strange things going on that I am not sure about:

  1. When I tell Itunes to replace calendar from the computer, the apts on my phone do not change. Its like the calendars between phone and computer do not see each other at all.
  2. When I reset sync history, the only history shown is from the very first time I backed up my phone on day one. All subsequent sync events are not shown. Let it be known that I have reset the sync history many times and it always defaults back to that very first event.

The one thing I have not tried is to reset my phone back to its default settings and then sync the phone. Will my phone repopulate with the files from my computer?

Hi,

Everyone. I have the same problem. The synchronization worked perfectly until one week ago and now I am able to syncronize only Outlook contacts, but not the calendar.

It looks that iTunes and Outlook don't see each other: also if I try to create a new calendar (not only a appt) in Outlook I cannot see it on iTunes.

I have tried many of your suggestions, but nothing happened.

I'm going crazy..

Rob209,

A glimmer of home, a solution defined! Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try and it did not work. In fact, it looks like ITunes tried to anticipate my next move.

As per your instruction I went to the directory listed (User/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer) BTW: the "Roaming" subfolder did not exist on my system I renamed the SyncServices folder and followed the rest of your instructions. Unfortunately my calendar did not sync. Everything else did, but not the calendar. when I tried it a second time Itunes would not new me rename the folder, it gave be an access denied warning. I quit ITunes to close any conflicts and tried to rename the file and was denied access. Strange....

Thanks for the suggestion.. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has success using this method.

Still Syncless after all these weeks.

Weighing in. I found this thread by Googling the problem. Glad I did as I sounds like my issues is related. On the "Info" tab in iTunes I can check "sync contacts" but there is nothing available under "configure". Sync Calendars, Sync Mail, and Other are greyed out. I have re-installed iTunes several times, I have restored my iPhone, I have even wiped my iPhone and reinstalled from scratch.

No joy.

I have talked to Apple support and they are clueless on a specific cause and specific fix.

Help!!!

Shantap,

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately it did not work. ITunes appears to see my calendar, nothing is grayed out. I ran the test and I could see the Calendar divice test run. ITunes verified that all divices were working properly. Then I synced the phone. Contacts, notes, calendar, and notes all appear as option checks and the the softwar runs. Everything but Calendar is updated. Items inputted from the phone do not show up in Outlook's calendar and vice versa.

Pier-CH (above) suggested it might be a profile issue. I am not sure what to look for. Does anyone have a suggestion.

Same problem for me since about two weeks.

Turned out to be a corrupt "recurring" calendar entry in outlook.

So not an Apple problem but a Microsoft problem.

Each time I opened up Outlook 2007 I got a reminder for a meeting that had been replaced/updated by the owner about two weeks earlier. I recall that, apart from noting receiving the update, I afterwards also had to cancel the original calendar, but that that failed (don't remember the error message). Did not give that much more attention as outlook worked.I woudl however get a reminder for the deleted calendar entry when starting outlook, followed by an error message when I tried to dismiss that message: "Cannot open the item for this reminder. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appopintment."

Itunes did not give an sync error message so didn't notice immediately that the calendar sync with outlook had gone wrong. As a result I also did not associate that failure with that specific "recurring" calendar entry.

But after looking on the Internet for a solution I found several references to "corrupted" outlook entries and realized that the "recurring" error message could fit that profile.

So I looked for the above error message and then this link fixed it for me ( I downloaded the mapieditor, closed my outlook, then opened my mailbox via that mapieditor and removed the corrupted calendar entry and restarted outlook with a "cleanreminders" option).

After this itunes properly synced all my new/changed calendar entries again.
