Where to download new QuickTime 7.7 for Windows?

I'd like to get QuickTime 7.7 (but only because Apple has forced me to use iTunes + QT to use my iPod) BUT..... the Apple download website ATM only offers up the OLD version 7.6.9 (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ and http://support.apple.com/kb/DL837), even though this ZDNet blog (http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security/apple-quicktime-flaws-haunt-windows-users/920 5#comments) and Apple itself (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222) have announced the new version 7.7.

Way to go Apple.......... Fail!

The situation with iTunes and Quicktime can change rapidly, so this may be a statement of the obvious.

This morning I opened up Quicktime and a panel appeared to show that there was an update to Quicktime 7.7 available. On clicking to update, a screen appeared to indicate that 7.6.9 was ready to install (which I already had installed).

After shutting down for 1/2 hour and restarting I opened up Quicktime and used Help > Update Software (Quicktime).

This directed me to Quicktime 7.7, which I installed successfully.

As to what the update does remains transparent, as I don't purchase Apple

Hi Morac:

I went ahead and updated to QuickTime v. 7.70 with the 38 MB installation file downloaded from the TechSpot site and I can confirm that it also updated my Apple Application Support from v. 1.5.2 to v. 2.0.1.

I don't have an iPhone or iPad but I spoke with a friend who has their QuickTime software configured to update automatically, and he confirmed that he hasn't been able to re-download his apps from the Purchased link on the iTunes Store for a few days now. I didn't investigate further, but after reading your previous posts I wouldn't be surprised if the Apple Application Support update is the culprit.

@ Morac:

"I have to believe that Apple will fix this by the time iTunes 10.5 comes out. If they don't they might as well stop writing Windows software." <<< YES indeed, +1.

Although I've always questioned whether the genius Apple programmers have EVER had a grasp on proper programming for Windows, considering their long history of BUGGY iTunes software for Windows.
