Still nothing from Apple on this (and I've been experiencing the problem for literally years now). Hoping that a few others will go to the Apple Keynote feedback page and complain about it. I just submitted the following in hopes that someone at Apple will start to care...
For some time (I'm on Keynote '09, version 5.1.1) I've been able to set the presenter notes default font by creating a custom theme. I need the font to be Lucida Grand 22 point so that I can see it when giving presentations.
BUT there's a problem...
It seems that Keynote has some kind of intermittent bug. Every now and then -- and I haven't figured out the pattern yet -- my presenter notes will revert to a default font. The default is, I believe Helvetica 12 point. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it seems that slides begin to revert to this Helvetica 12 point as I click on them. If I notice the problem, quit Keynote (without saving), and then reopen one of two things will have happened: Either some slides retain the presenter notes in my Lucida Grand 22 point font, and I have to fix the "corrupted" ones... or, more often, ALL presenter notes have reverted to Helvetica 12 point. Then I have to painfully go through each and every slide's notes, and change the font back.
It's insanely frustrating, especially when dealing with presentation that have 100+ slides and detailed notes. On more than one occasion I've migrated my slides to PowerPoint because I'm sick of this problem. While I hate PowerPoint, I can't be put in the position of having my notes become illegible just as I start to speak.
Has anyone run into this? Any ideas on how to fix it? Does Apple know or care about this problem? (I suspect they don't care, because the bug has been in there for years, and that's a shame because I'm using Keynote less and less these days, SOLELY BECAUSE OF THIS BUG)...
I suspect Steve Jobs never used presenter notes. No surprise, he was a master of the presentation. 🙂 Unfortunately, since from what I hear Keynote was his baby, if it wasn't important to Steve it probably doesn't matter to Apple... 😟
