Skimming stops working...

Sometimes (seemingly without reason) skimming stops working in my FCPX projects.. I have tried disable/enable both audio and video skimming, but I have to quit and relaunch to get it to working again...

Any clues?

Skimming works in the event library btw...

On my system, the problem is absolutely related to Spaces. If I run FCPX in full-screen mode, transitioning to any other app means a change to another space. When I come back to FCPX, skimming no longer works. If I run FCPX in a space with a couple other apps, then I can switch between them and never loose skimming. But if I transition to an app in another space, then skimming stops working when I come back to FCPX.

I'm using the trackpad of my 15" Late 2013 rMBP.

Just installed the 10.2.3 update. Skimming is still broken if I move to another Space and come back to FCPX.

Clicking on a clip in the browser re-enables it. But why?

I tried this and I had the same issue. Switching to a different space and back to FCP X (in fullscreen) breaks skimming. The problem does NOT manifest itself if FCP X isn't in full screen.

Yes it does. Just happened to me and I wasn't in full screen. And for the record, bringing focus back to the app does not always resolve the problem. Clicking on media in the browser does however, for me personally.

Maybe this bug hasn't been fixed because almost no one here submitting feedback has any idea of what they're talking about. There's tons of misinformation in this thread! This issue also exists in iMovie, although it doesn't seem to raise its ugly head as often.

When a bug affects all users, it is probably relatively easy to fix.

When a problem affects a small number of users, in different ways, as seems to be the case, it can very very hard to pin down. It can be a bug but it can be caused by something in the specific user setup, and they are all different.

You should send Apple detailed feedback. That is the only way they can be made aware of the problem.

You should also test on your side whether there may be something else involved.

Running on a new user account often does not show the same problem, which can suggest that the problem is caused by something specific to one's account.
