Im going to a concert tomorrow and want to use my empty and fully charged 32gb iPod Touch 4th gen to record 19 videos. If I charge my iPod all night and and all day tomorrow until we leave at 6pm and the concert starts 9pm.
If I dont use my iPod at all untill 9pm how much battery will I lose?

The battery will not have a bigger compaciticy the longer you charge it. Also the iPod is not made for long recordings it will probably overheat in about 15-30 mins at max. You would be better off buying a small digital camera.
I read the Mossberg column in the Wall Street Journal the other day and just talked with an Apple tech about battery life in iPods. The Apple tech agress with Mossberg that every 3 months or so let the battery drain down. It "recalibrates" the iPod and extends battery life. I hope that helps.

It depends how you're filming really. I was shooting short bursts, while you'll probably do 3-5 minutes at a time, which is a lot. I had to end up using another iPhone to finish up shooting, and both were fully charged. If you really want to record something 1+ hour long, use a real camera/camcorder.
I want to get as many as possible on the touch and I have my camera so im guessing ill be good. how many clips did you get?

Since I was usually recording things under a minute, I got 20+. But then there were the plethora of ones that were deleted because they were bad scenes. I think you'll get 10+, and if you've gotten at least 16, then not bad.
19 seems like you're cutting it, but maybe if you run almost no brightness and stuff..
yeah thats what ive done in the past and have my ipod set on now, all i have to do is charge it.
but im worried about the time between when i take it off of the charger and the main act going on which seems like its going to be a 3 hr gap. I dont know how much battery ill lose if i dont use it at all
Why don't you just turn it off completely if you're not going to use it then?

You can power it off if you hold the lock button for a couple seconds and then slide to turn it off. That way, you can just turn it on when you need to use it.

exactly, it'll be completely off so it won't even waste any energy.
if you plan on doing this a lot though, there are a bunch of "external battery" things that can help give you an extra charge for your iPod too.
Thats a good idea, do you know any of them? I know there is one from Duracell but thats about it
I would just look around your local technology store (Best Buy, Fry's) for the one. I''ve seen some cheap ones at some websites, and then my friend recommended me to check out cellularfactory.com because they have a lot of supplies for stuff like that.
