Apple Wireless Keyboard MC184LL/B Volume keys not working

I'm using OS X10.5.8 and recently bought a wireless keyboard, MC184LL/B, which sits across the room. I realize that the minimum requirements listed for this keyboard are 10.6.8, however I was told at my local apple store that it should work fine with Leopard. I got the keyboard paired, however I cannot get the Volume (F10-F12), Playback (F7-F9), and brightness (F1-F2) keys to work as they normally do on my macbook keyboard. How do I fix this? I've tried going into the keyboard preferences, and the "Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" is NOT checked. Already tried resetting the PRAM. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Unfortunately i don't have a solution to your issue, but I thought I would mention the same issue with the new keyboard (MC184LL/B) and the iPad 2 running ios 4.3.5. None of the function keys work as they should.

I recently received the older model (MC184LL/A) from FutureShop (Canada's sister to Best Buy) and everything works fine. Perhaps you should seek out and buy the older model before they are phased out.

My only concern in saying this is I hope the update to ios 5 does not cause the older model keyboard to suddenly lose function key performance. Similarly, I'm not sure the older model keyboard will work if you upgrade to Lion.

I called Apple support about this issue and they found some info on the same iPad forums I have read, but they had no inside scoop on whether the issue was going to be addressed in further ios (or Mac OS) updates.

If you want to keep your new keyboard, you might just have to wait and see if the issue is resolved.
