canon mp navigator ex and Lion not working

Hi all,

Since Mac OS X Lion, my Canon MP Navigator EX doesn't work anymore. I removed everything Canon (prefs, extensions, folders in App Support, etc.) and reinstalled everything... still the same error from MP Navigator EX. 249.0.0.0 Scanner in use.

I can scan via Preview or Image Capture, but that is one scan a t a time and you have to set the scanning options/area every time. With MP Navigator EX I can scan 50 or images in one batch, modify them and save them all at once into a folder (and MPNEX numbers them just fine!) or into a PDF. Much, much faster than with Apple's standard tools.

So, does someone here experience the same thing or uses other scanner software that also does batch scanning and works with an MP630?

Thanks!

Mac OS X (10.7)

When image capture opens, click on "Show Details" on the bottom right of the screen.

Turn auto selection OFF to stop the several images coming in and to get just one image.

Choose Format: PDF to make your finished, scanned image a PDF instead of a JPG.

In this dialogue box, you can also choose your resolution and where the final scanned image is stored.

I believe these setting will stay the same every time you scan, but it wouldn't hurt to check them each time.

Hope this helps,

Tammy

Thanks TAm-

Your response appreciated but did not get me back to the wonderful way the scanner worked prior to installing Mountain Lion. As I was reading here, I was also emailing Canon. They got me back to my old easy scanning!!!! You never know how wonderful something was until it is gone.

Here are there directions below. There is an issue with security to allow the Canon fix to install. I changed my security settings to allow all in to let the new driver install and then went back to the more secure settings.

Completely removing and reinstalling the printer drivers and MP Navigator program on your computer may resolve the issue you are experiencing. To do this, please follow the steps below. If any of the steps below do not apply to your operating system, please skip them and move on to the next step.

1. Open the hard drive (Macintosh HD).

2. Open the 'Library' folder.

3. Open the 'Printers' folder.

4. Open the 'Canon' folder.

5. Send the 'BJ Printer' folder to the trash.

6. Return to the 'Library' folder.

7. Open the 'Receipts' folder.

8. Locate any items related to your printer and send them to the trash. However, leave the 'Canon Printer Drivers.pkg' file in the folder if it happens to be listed.

9. Return to the 'Library' folder.

10. Open 'Image Capture'.

11. Open the 'Twain Data Sources' folder.

12. Send any Canon files related to your printer to the trash.

13. Open the Applications folder.

14. Open the Canon Utilities folder.

15. Send the MP Navigator to the trash.

16. Restart your computer.

17. Empty the trash.

Once the files have been removed, we can reinstall the latest drivers from the Canon USA website. The following link will take you to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX870:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_s eries/pixma_mx870#DriversAndSoftware

Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:

1. Select MAC OS from the "SELECT OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu, then please use the "SELECT OS VERSION" drop-down menu to select the OS X v10.8 MOUNTAIN LION version of the operating system that is on the computer where will be installing the software. (You may need to scroll down in the list to find your operating system version).

2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MINI MASTER SETUP file. When you do, another page will appear giving details of the file you are about to download will appear.

3. Please scroll down on the Details page and agree to the terms of the disclaimer message to continue with the download process by clicking on the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button. After clicking the "I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD" button, follow the instructions to download and install the driver. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded. Please be sure to have the USB cable unplugged from the computer prior to installing the drivers; the installation program will prompt you to plug it in at the appropriate time.

Once you have downloaded and installed the MINI MASTER SETUP file from the website, please restart your Mac.

To install the latest version of MP Navigator on your Mac, please follow the steps above, except for in step 2 you will want to click on the red arrow next to the "SOFTWARE" section instead of the DRIVERS section to locate and download the MP Navigator program.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance with your PIXMA MX870.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

Sincerely,

Ramona
