SystemUIServer and LoginWindow Using a Ton of Memory

My SystemUIServer and LoginWindow processes are using a lot of memory like 300MB of memory and I have a feeling this is what is causing my computer to run slowly and freeze after it's been on for a while. It seems to be some kind of Memory leak since the memory usage gets worse over time. I can quit the SystemUIServer service which is relaunched since it's a launchd and will gradually go back to eating up memory.

In addition to this pretty much anything you try to do in the System Preferences freezes which means I can't even create a new login to see if it's something corrupted in the user files.

I'm running OS X Lion which has been a pain since nothing has worked right since I installed it.

Indeed, Skype also did trigger this problem. But also some apps (games) from the Mac App Store. So nog only Flash can be held responsible for this problem....

i followed up the 'solution' of re-installing Lion on my macbook air (late '10) without restoring a backup.

But, after headaches with lost achievements and high scores from my apps and games (from the Mac App Store - Hello Apple! Where's a solution to backup my progress / highscores!) i did restore a TimeMachine backup, via Migrate Assistant. I restored everything (user, apps, etc.) and everything is fine now.

I did not re-install Flash however (it seemes to be gone? So maybe i did succesfully uninstall Flash before making the backup?) and i'll keep it that way. I can watch almost all YouTube video's with HTML 5.

I shut off the "show the time and date on the menu bar" and the problem went away instantly???

But when I repair the permissions on my HD it runs for like 16 mins says it repaired it then rerun it and it is not repaired???

I also noticed the sys/lib/cor directory mentioned but when I go to terminal and LS it does not exist even with a

ls sys/lib/cs -a nothing is there so how did it repair the files rights???

What in the heck is going on or am I just inept? TY ;-)

Same issue on a early 2009 MBP running 10.7.5

VLC is the program that causes this to occur on my laptop. It happens even without playing a video. Just having VLC open causes the real mem in loginwindow, SystemUIServer and VLC to devour disc space. A computer restart erases the space that this issue has used, but then it starts up again. Sure, I may be able to simply reinstall Lion (or perhaps just upgrade to ML or Mavericks) but that solution still does not identify why this is happening.

I have the same issue, 2012 Mac mini with SSD drive and 16GB of RAM and at one point last week SystemUIServer used 10GB of Memory caused my computer to crawl to a halt until I managed to restart it but it was extremely unresponsive. I must now restart my computer every few days due to this leak. Currently SystemUIServer is using 7.97GB (see screenshot) - time for a restart.

Running Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6. Mac mini (Late 2012) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 and 16GB RAM.

I do have 1080P dual displays hooked up to my computer and I do use Parallels to run Windows 10 with 4GB of RAM allocated to the VM. I tend to have my Mac turned on all the time, only time it is off is due to restarting due to this issue.
