I can see so much loss of personal privacy in this that its not even conceivable. Anyone who doesn't think that Apple (or some other governement agency in the guise of National security) won't read your personal data, look at your movies, etc., is either really really dumb or very easily duped.

If its possible, it will be done. And it will be possible, if your stuff is on somebody else's tera byte drive. And if you aren't even renting the space, none of that stuff there actually even belongs to you once you put it into the cloud.

All very true, but do we have a choice?

Apple killed iDVD because it wants to get rid of the DVD. The MacBook Air has no optical drive, and that is going to be the future of all MacBooks. My problem is I want physical media! When I hand a completed wedding video to a couple, I don't want to say "Don't lose this little SD card! Back it up onto a hard drive (better yet TWO hard drives). Don't trust any hard drive more than 3 or 4 years. I hope you still have this video 25 years from now to show your grandchildren!" I guess Apple just wants us to store everything on iCloud ...

They won't be selling one to me without a DVD drive.

Don't lose this little SD card!

Don't forget to tell them they can't watch the movie on their big-screen television in the living room, but rather they need to watch it on a computer display.

I am in no way against cloud storage. However, I believe in having a choice. I'm not crazy about having my data stored on someone else's server in another state.

Here is the good news!!

Technology experts are working on a movie storage system where YOU have physical possession of the movie.

This system stores the movie digitally on an optical disk system that will not be dependent upon a congested, complicated, and fragile network.

Because all of the data is stored only a few feet from your television, all the bottlenecks are removed. Performance and reliability are virtually flawless.

Further, the system will not utilize any form of security codes, authentications, or passwords. Once the optical disc is purchased it can be moved around freely at will, and can even be lent or given to friends and neighbors with zero hassles.

How about describing what you're referring to. What Mac do you have? When did you purchase it? What system did it come installed with?

Making a guess I take it you don't have iDVD installed on your Mac. If you purchased the Mac recently and it came with Lion installed iDVD was not included nor was iWeb. Both apps have been discontinued by Apple and are no longer being supported.

The only iDVD items at the App Store are Tutor for iDVD and MPV'S IDVD '11 101 which describes itself as

User uploaded file

So what did you purchase that you thought was the iDVD application? Did you read the information included with them?

If you want the application you will have to purchase it from a 3rd party suppliers like Amazon.com: ilife 11

You might try contacting the App Store and tell them you were trying to download the iDVD application and see if they will refund your purchase price. They might relent and do it.
