15" 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro - kernel panics about every 5 minutes after Lion upgrade

I just recently upgraded to Lion and since then have been plagued as it seems many users have been with kernel panics after the upgrade. Have repaired disk permissions, analyzed the drive with diskwarrior, swapped out the memory, unplugged all external devices, and shut down all unnecessary applications to no avail. Anyone have any idea when this is going to be fixed by Apple? My laptop is pretty much useless and formatting and going back to Snow Leopard is a rediculous option since I really do not want to spend a day or more reinstalling all of my applications just to get to a workable situation until Apple gets their "stuff" together. C'mon Apple - we expect more from you than this!

Then you're down to three possibilities:

  1. A bug in Lion.
  2. A hardware fault, most likely in the Ethernet adapter.
  3. A damaged Lion installation.

#3 is the least likely, in my opinion, but the easiest to rule out. Boot from your recovery partition and reinstall Lion. Of course, you'll back up your data first.

If that doesn't help, which I don't think it will, then you can try running the Apple Hardware Test. The test isn't very reliable, but if it shows something wrong, you have your answer. If it shows nothing wrong, you still can't be sure, and you should take the machine to a service provider for testing.

As for #1, I haven't found any other reports of the same panic, but that doesn't prove anything. Only Apple engineering could answer that question, and maybe even they don't know.

One other tidbit to go along with this... I rebooted normally and made sure all startup appliations were closed and just let the laptop sit with no active use going on. Within about 20 minutes it had a panic. My feeling is that option #1 is the issue since I have seen multiple comments and posts all regarding MacBook Pros and Lion panics after upgrading.(from a Google standpoint). I really don't think hardware fault is an issue since I had no issues at all until I upgraded to Lion.

Guess I will try to reinstall Lion tomorrow and see where that takes things... otherwise may be stuck going back to Snow Leopard.
