Hi All,
I am using latest version of itunes with my iPad 2. While trying to sync some pdf's with my iPad, I found that the "Book" tab is missing in itunes.
my Laptop OS is windows 7 starter edition with screen resolution as 1366x768.
Could anyone suggest what might be the problem and how this can be resolved.
This issue is not stopping me to read those PDF's. I am reading them via some other apps.

in 2017, I found the same issue: disappearance of the "Book" tab in iTunes. The answer is: when iBooks is set to work through iCloud, then iTunes doesn't propose anymore the Sync of books. It's the same for Contacts and Calendar for instance.
on the iMac, setting iBooks on iCloud is done through "system preferences/iCloud/Options..., then select iBooks.app.
on the iPad, it's "somewhere" but I am unable to retrieve where it is (this is probably why I spent a whole afternoon trying to solve this issue...).

If you mean it's missing on the left hand column under Library then you can add it by ticking Books on the General tab in Edit > Preferences
Do you mean it's missing on iTunes on your iPad? If so, you don't use iTunes to read but the separate iBooks app (a free download).
@PogoPossum - It is missing in the iTunes in my PC 😉
@King_Penguin - it is missing both in the left hand window and also the tab is missing in the right hand window, which shows the iPad details. However I will try to follow your suggestions when I reach home. If that fails, then I will upload a screenshot of the same.

I'm not entirely sure whether the Books tab only appears on the iPad device if you've got ebooks/PDFs in your iTunes library (i.e. it might depend on whether you've got content you can sync to the iPad), and/or whether you've got the iBooks app on your iPad (as the Books tab only syncs ebooks/pdfs to iBooks). See if it appears after you've got PDFs in the iTunes 'library'.
If you want to sync PDFs to other apps on the iPad then try the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab
I was having a similar problem. This may seem like a dumb fix but it worked for me. Make your itunes window bigger so that it will show all the options.
Oh geez I was having the same problem and this was the fix. Ugh!
Hey Guys I was having the exact same problem but i've found the solution. Simply go to the menu tab(at the top left corner) ->click preferences ->General ->under Sources tick "Books". This will enable the books section to appear in your iTunes in the future. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hey Guys I'm having the same problem when adding PDFs I have tried all listed. But when i go to my Preferences in the itunes tap the box books is not even there for me to check . Anyone know who to fix this I have to travel for work and would like to take my Ipad and not my Mac so would like to put the PDFs I need to look over on the Ipad thanks.
What version of OS X do you have on your Mac ? If it's Mavericks then you should have a built-in iBooks app on it, and you add your PDFs to that app (File > Add To Library) - you then sync your books / PDFs to your iPad by connecting the iPad to your Mac and selecting it in iTunes, and one of the tabs on it should be Books e.g. if you have the left-hand sidebar in iTunes enabled (option-command-S) and select the iPad on that, then the last tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen should be Books
Any books / PDFs that you add to the iBooks app on your Mac should show on that tab
Book tab is not visible in itunes
