Thanks this worked!
I go to the prompt. Im signed in as the administrator on my PC. I get an error when I enter the "winsock" ect... "The requested operation requires elevation <Run as Administrator>" Im confused... sorry if it seems like a dumb Q'n. why wont it go in? what am I doing wrong?
Is your computer part of an network in a business? Sounds like an issue where a network administrator has you locked out of some functions on the local machine where you have only certain administrator functions, if this is not the case try to create a new user via control panelu/user accounts with administrator privileges and log into the new account to make the change. If you are using company PC ask your network administrator to make the change for you.
Anyone got ideas on how to fix my problem in connecting to iTunes using the iPhone4s? Thanks 🙂
I'm having a problem with Itunes opening on my IPad 1. The app starts to open and then shuts down. I've tried to open several times, but nothing. Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks just got it working for the first time since i got my ipod 3 YEARS AGO!!!!!! wish that i had found this earlier.
I guess i am a dummy
i have tried what you suggested, and it tell me "The requested operation requires elevation (Run as administrator)"
But i am signed as Administrator, nobody else uses my laptop
I have tried every thing, comand prompt, disable spyware, uninstall and reinstall I Tunes... Just wondering should I try System Restore since my problem started a couple of weeks ago ??????
Hey i was wondering if u could help me, i recently downloaded the new software for my iphone (ios 5.0.1) but something went wrong it completely wiped my itunes and now when i open it on the laptop it says straight away there is a problem and shuts it down and looks for a solution. The solution comes up and says download new itunes i do this but it keeps on saying there is a problem .. Please some one help me .
I had the same problem, you just right click on command prompt and run as administrator. hope this helps it took me awhile to work this out.
I had this problem, also, until I tried birgitfromwittgenstein's solution... run the CMD prompt as admin and type in "netsh winsock reset". After trying literally everything on Apple's site to find a solution, I was at my witt's end. Resetting the winsock worked! Thank you, so much, birgitfromwittgenstein!!!!!!

Tried to reset the winsock but it gives me a message to raise level to run as administrator. I checked my user profile and it is administrator so i don't know what to do here. it is a windows 7 Pro
In the I Tunes toolbar go to "edit" click on " preferences" go to "advanced" and go to "Reset cache" ...Worked for me.....
Your help is appreciated. Unfortunately, I tried the reset cache as well as the internet options advanced and cleared the check for publisher certificate revocation etc.. also, I turned off the McAfee firewall and did the netsh winsock reset and restarted the computer. All did not work and still no access to the itunes store. Can anyone help.
8 months without itunes store, tried all the troubleshooting steps numerous times, went through email dialogue with apple.
THIS WORKED!
Thank you.
