Lion Thumb Drive is now in the Apple Store

The Lion Thumb Drive is now in the Apple Store for $69. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD256Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

The System requirements say that you need to be at 10.6.6 but that seems to be a leftover from downloading it from the App Store. When you click on "See all system requirements" it takes you to the pre thumb drive page.

I think that we have now enough evidence that what Apple support says and what Apple really does are two different things. Yesterday I had a talk with Apple sales representative and I got return case opened and return shipping label - I just haven't used the USB Thumb Drive and it is still new. That's why I was asking here if it works or not so that to have a chance to return it - sorry about that guys 🙂

By the way Apple upgraded the Lion (is 10.7.1 now) available on Mac AppStore and I think that it should work now - but I can't test it anyway.

I have tested the new dowload. It doesn't work for my 2011 MBA. The created boot disk shows up in boot manager as a boot drive, but yeilds a circle/slash symbol when I choose to boot from it.

Have returned the Apple Thumb Drive today. I just rely upon decent functioning of Lion OS X from now on 🙂

I used to have a Microsoft Vista (said to be the worst of all Windows) for 1.5 years and it never crashed on my previous Toshiba laptop and I never had a back up plan. So, considering the fact that Mac OS is much more stable and secure than Windows - I don't see why would I need to reinstall Lion in the future.
